That month-long ban seemed like a really unnecessary reaction after I tried to excuse myself, but whatever. It's still a neat mod, and I'm sure it took a lot of hard work to get it up and running.
But this is your answer:
"You're trying to apply objective logic to something that's subjective in it's nature. People have their own preferences and needs and not all of them are objectively justifiable." <----This is your answer here.
If you want more details (which is not a bad thing), I will give you my personal opinion.
I like the game as is. I never have a problem with lighting as I agree with you (the in-game brightness sliders can fix almost all issues). However, some people -like me- feel that a manual flashlight gives more control over the small "flashlight" aspect of the game (only that part). The game is fine the way it is (what you are saying), but this mod adds a small "expansion" to how the player control an aspect of -now- what the characters can use, it just an addition to what can be controlled (items/weapons/ and now flashlight) -and how it's chosen to be used.
If you still want an example or it broken down even further, here is something that should give an idea of the mind-frame pattern:
*Things you can manually choose to do when you feel needs to be done in RE2R:
Walk or Run
Shoot with Handgun or Shotgun
Mix Herbs or not mix Herbs
Save or not Save (hard mode)
And now -Flashlight-
Use Flashlight or not use Flashlight
Remember, this way of thinking or playing is all subjective. Everyone may not like it or understand why some people do like it, and that's ok.
*Some people like eating Oreos like a sandwich, some open them first and some people like me hate Oreos.
It's just how people prefer to experience different aspects of the game.
I hope you have a better understanding now as I think your question do deserve an answer that should be satisfying (NOT necessarily for you to agree with, just satisfying ).
Lots of people on this form has given you a good reason, but I hope this one can give you the perspective you are looking for. If not, I don't think you will ever see it from the other side and you will just have to respect the difference of opinion without understanding why (which I know can be frustrating). Great mod btw.
