They were looking for an argument. Hopefully this is over now, and folks can go back to asking technical questions about the mod or just say "thanks for sharing". I'll never understand the mindset of someone hopping into a mod thread to ask "why did you make this and why does anyone want this?", and then not accepting a concise explanation. Happens far too often. Telltales signs of someone who's never actually made anything themselves. Bullshit. I said multiple times I wasn't trying to start shit, and you- like the last person- completely ignored all the nice things I said about the mod and the author. So you too can go fuck yourself.

Oooooh, once I get this game I am totally going to grab this mod. My desktop isn't powerful enough to run the game properly, and my laptop's screen has weird ass contrast levels. Having a manual flashlight would really add to the overall experience.

To answer to Zombie0, I think people who like to play games want to actually PLAY the game. Automatic things can be just very annoying, and breaks the player liberty. If all is automatic, better go watch a movie you know ? That's the feeling and frustration that the player can experience, especially for those who grow up and are used to play games with a lot of freedom. Nobody likes to be treated like a dumb person, we all know when to perform an action, no need of useless assistance. Hope my reply will be enough to answer your question (and don't listen to hateful people, your curiosity is legitimate and deserves an appropriate response).

It would be cool if this replaced the "Recenter camera" Button on the controller

And to bounce on that, sometime there are areas in which the flashlight would be useful (or completely pointless) and we can't control how we "see". It happened a lot in Shadow of the Tomb Raider: There were actual crypts completely pitch black and the flashlight wasn't triggering. Devs took a habit of deciding for us what is dark enough to justify additional lighting and what isn't, but we all have different visions, different monitors, different settings and different needs. One shoe to fit them all doesn't always work. While I personally think REmake2 did a good enough job with the flashlight (to a point I never felt restricted), I will gladly take this mod anyway for an extra immersive touch (when I'm trying to hide from Mr. X in a room for example). Thank you SkacikPL for this mod.

This version contains both mods in single dll: Your mod works fine, but this link doesn't do anything for me. Neither the flashlight or first person mod work.
Am I doing something wrong?

It would be cool if this replaced the "Recenter camera" Button on the controller I'm doing that with JoytoKey, it still recenters the camera, but the game doesn't recenter the camera if you're moving the stick.

I made an account just to say thank you for this mod! I love having control over the flashlight, instead of the game telling me when to use it. Imagine any other horror games if you couldn't control the flashlight! We're on PC and we should have that freedom! And it definitely does ruin the immersion when Mr X can't see me despite having my flashlight out. Also for me the police station courtyard for example is very dark, but the game doesn't allow the flashlight then.
However I will wait for a bit until the First Person mod allows them to be used together, it would be a must-have! (Installing this version "github.com/praydog/RE2-Mod-Framework/tree/manual-flashlight-wip" doesn't work for me)

Small note, you can use the flashlight with Sherry! It's not intended and looks a bit funny but maybe useful for people with contrast issues.

I assume that's because both of you either tried to install sources without compiling or the appveyor only contains builds for main branch. So until author merges that specific branch with master, you'd have to compile the .dll yourselves.
EDIT: For the lazy and/or unwilling to work with Github/CMAKE you can grab pre-compiled .dll here:
As far as i can tell it's fully functional although you can only enable the manual flashlight option after loading the game and i think keybinding is not rebindable at the moment and only E works.

Hey, since you've made a keybind for an action, I was wonering...
Would it be feasible to create a keybind to unequip current weapon? I like my weapon holstered most of the time and to draw it in dangerous situation. It feels cool, and obviously more immersive to me. Currently the only way to unequip a weapon is to manually do so through the inventory screen. Not too much of a hassle but still, an alternative could be fun.
Thanks!
