Sounds insanely intriguing. Hope we will hear more on TGS. I bet its Umbrella Corps or something. New suspicion after the news today (;3) I suspect its RE2 in a super mega early basic test. (In other words,i mean like character movement test atleast?? and then map? No scripts/serious scripts yet? No way. It's really unlikely that they already have a playable prototype by now, and if so, I doubt anyone but developer team (which wbacon isnt a part off) would get to play it.

Might be that they only got greenlit and there is nothing more than early design documents ready.

Beating a dead horse at this point. The dev team has moved on to other work.

I also talked with wbacon about RE5 patch a couple of months ago, and yeah, it sounded like chances were very low that was going to happen. They'd have to re-hire the team, and it I guess they don't see it as worthwhile (in Capcom's defense, this is basically the attitude of the entire industry. unless a game is selling super well and has an extremely active player base, you don't see more patches ever). I'd love to see a situation where some select modders would get the responsibility of patching out the remaining bugs in the game. It'd be an easy and cheap solution, but might be hard to convince Capcom of that.
If people are curious about what game wbacon was playing which was mentioned in the previous page, I'm pretty sure it was Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen PC. It definitely couldn't be RE2 remake as that game must be early in development, and I don't think it's common for developers to release prototypes or early alphas as a company-wide build.

Short conversation I just had with Wbacon... Will be nice to see them I understand correctly that we still have a chance to get Steam game cards for this game? It's great. I hope for a good background for my profile.

Yeah, pretty sure it was Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen that Wbacon was playing a couple of months back and yes RE5 cards will be coming soon for RE5 and have not been forgotten entirely.

Chat between Wbacon and myself just now... What do you guys think? Well, honestly i think this game shouldn't exist in the first place. I see that their goal is to attract non re fans and/or especially third-person shooter lovers, but i think they will fail badly with this... for now characters(or should i say just unnamed soldiers who all look almost the same) animation looks bad, when they run or move it looks like they fly/slide but not run or sneaking. The whole gameplay maybe would be interesting if they would have RE characters in it, but play re game and especially shooter with look the same soldiers instead of re characters is simply wrong, it is not a re game then. I would accept this if at least this game had story and single player mode about some umbrella squad who trying to survive, but THIS? no i think i'll pass, unless it will be f2p (just to simply check this out) but i dont think this will happen. Again, i repeat myself - if this game (if polished, with fixed animations and other stuff they need to fix) would had re characters at least it could be fun to play some deathmath rounds. But for now this looks bad, and not interesting enough to try this out. As for attracting non re people and shooter lovers , i guess mostly of them will pass on this, honestly who will go here? COD or CS:GO ppl??? NO they wont come. Tactical shooter ppl (including myself) NO, they wont come here, because we are with Insurgency , upcoming Siege, and stuff like that. Who else ? Battlefield people ? THIS guys wont move here, i beliave they wont even look at this game. Well, we will see how it all turns out, but for now this game looks like big mistake.

I'm surprised it's an inhouse project. Makes me really curious why they're using Unity rather than their own engine.

Thanks DarkSamus. Truly the most shocking revelation here is that this project is indeed inhouse rather than outsourced. MT Frameworks seemes like a good engine, except they never seem to make the most out of it (compare Resident Evil 5 to Revelations 2). I hope this doesn't mean they'll switch to Unity for their next games.

Yeah I think if they want to appeal to the more shooter action crowd, a different franchise might of been more worth-while. Whatever.
Either way Capcom is not getting my money on this game.
I hope they don't remain with the Unity engine for future games though. That blows modding out of the window.
