DarkSamus: I saw the announcement of RE: UC
DarkSamus: looks a lot like ORC
DarkSamus: RE looks very much like a "style sequel to ORC". Now why are they staying with a formula that I personally feel did not work for Capcom's wallets?
wbacon [capcom]: Well, it's a different genre that's artistically different from traditional, single-player centric RE experiences
DarkSamus: But it seems to follow the failed path of ORC
DarkSamus: Why?
DarkSamus: Why do again what didn't sell well the first time?
wbacon [capcom]: Genre is similar, but gameplay system is unique in its own way. It's also an internal project as opposed to being outsourced.
wbacon [capcom]: contrary to popular belief, RE:ORC sold a respectable amount. Qualitatively, I suppose it was a mixed bag based on how it reviewed back then
wbacon [capcom]: At the end of the day, the audience for this game will not be the same as your traditional RE fan base
wbacon [capcom]: There will be overlap sure, but it's geared towards shooter fans who wants quick pick-up and play action
DarkSamus: ok, thanks
DarkSamus: Was RE:UC early in development when it was announced?
DarkSamus: Because it really does not look good
wbacon [capcom]: I thought it looked good in person when I tried it, but I've only played it for a short while. That's subjective matter I suppose. It's still in active development.
DarkSamus: It reeeeeallly needs improvements regarding stuff like janky animations, horrible camera angles
DarkSamus: and just overall lack of polish
wbacon [capcom]: When you compare it to the Battlefields and CODs of the world, well...the scope and budget of the game is quite different ;-)
wbacon [capcom]: well it's not going to be released until next year so obviously there will be polish closer to release like most games
