yup, you need 1.0.6. Unless you need Chinese language support there is no reason to run 1.1.0 raz0r's trainer can remove film grain permanently? Also, am I correct that this mod no longer works? Using 1.0.6 exe.

I dont know if this mod still works (i doubt it is compatible with RE HD project).. All I know is that altering the texture in 07000000.pack file, as this mod does, ruins other effects that depend on the same texture. Raz0r's trainer simply disables the effect whenever present.

Wow, I took a long break, but now the game is at a final patch 1.0.6. Hmm didnt know there was a trainer that disabled the Film Grain. If there is any interest I can update the mod to be compatible with the last known patch. About the file that get "disabled" it only affects one other subtle effect that I happen to dislike too, some kind of low-res fog effect in certain sections of the game so I can safely state that the mod doesn't break anything...

Thanks for the update. About it not breaking stuff. albert from the HD project (who is essentially the most knowledgeable person about this game), has told me on several occasions that nulling the texture in the 0700000.pack file breaks several bloom effects and some other effects that I do not recall. Ultimately I guess its up to the user to decide if breaking some other in-game effects is worth not having the film grain. This being said, if someone REALLY wanted to do a PROPER NO GRAIN mod it would probably take only 1-2 hours worth of work, which would simply involve using the EFF fool that is in the Son of Persia toolset, and editing all the: Id = 0x1 Type = 0x4 Texture = 0x72 effects from the rooms that use them. It is as simple as renaming the values in the data.txt file to: Id = 0x1 Type = 0x0 Texture = 0x0and repacking the EFF file, then repacking the UDAS. Yes, this would be a lot of files to distribute, but at least this way you aren't destroying anything in the process, as you are simply disabling the effect that calls on the texture. If someone wants to take this on, I am more than happy to write a short guide on how to do it. Happy MOdding!

Sure, go ahead with the guide. I wouldn't mind to try this option also...

Excellent! Before we commence, let me ask you this. Do you think the best way forward will be to build off of Albert's HD project? I ask this because he has modified the UDAS files and it would be a shame for you to do the work if it was not compatible with the HD mod. In the end you will be distributing a whole bunch of UDAS files (no textures needed for this mod). I'm sure Albert won't mind, so long as you make sure to tell people that these are only compatible with the HD mod, which should be credited to him.
EDIT - oh also just an afterthought here. If you wanted to make this easier to distribute (smaller and easier to install for users), you could use the Companion DLL to simply side-chain the EFF files. This way you wouldn't need to repack all the UDAS files (or redistribute them) and this should also help in futureproofing if the HD project is updated (unless Albert updates the EFF, but I am 99$% sure that work is already complete).. The only downside to using the Companion DLL is that people with cracked versions will not be able to use the mod. They would need to repack the EFF files into the UDAS themselves.
Let me know what route you'd like to go and I will guide you through it.
Cheers

If you're looking for votes, mine would be: A. Build off HD Project. Definitely. It's gorgeous, and anyone who really wants a permanent no-grain probably also wants to use the HD project, whether they currently know it or not. B. Hook the Companion DLL. The advantages far outweigh the issues (IMO). I mean.. I'm not gonna talk smack to the pirate people or anything. I've been one in days long past... That said though, I DO believe in support for stuff that doesn't suck, which means actually buying it, and IMO again, RE qualifies (at least most of RE anyways lol). Couple with that the fact that really, it's never been the mod author's job to "ensure cracked versions play nice" That's sort of one of the caveats of using pirated stuff in the first place - the whole "your mileage may vary" thing about versions, updates (lack thereof), compatibility, etc. Again.. all this, just my two bits, for what they're worth. ^_^
