This game probably will sell really well, since it's appealing to the barrel scraping Youtube crowd that are stuck in 2012. (I was gonna say "The Pewdiepie crowd" but he's good now) I saw those too. Sad truth is, yes. They're all "How can this be NOT Resident Evil?", "This is the way it should've been, a FPS, but because of constraints, it wasn't made possible back then, blah, blah..", and calling it THE REAL Resident Evil with the REAL horrors intact. Good Lord, so it has come to be that the REAL RE was a fanatical rip-off of ideas from other games?

new trailer was completely disgusting it's a real madness
like most of R rated movies by some newbies who are looking for fame and popularity but as everybody already knows, most of them doesn't have any new idea so they just made a bouillon soup including every things which they like!
and God bless you if you have to eat!
so just for God's sake don't test it even for free, woe to the purchase because by paying your precious money to buying such a .... like that you encourage them to continuing their mistakes again and again

"It wasn't possible back then" is funny because, with some care, RE: Survivor could've been a first person horror. Wonder how the creator of RE feels about his baby being desecrated.

Oh man, I do wonder too. Like that stunt Konami pulled after Kojima, Metal Gear Survive? That and this RE7, with every single update(with a lot of that "Family Guy" whacking the player into the next trailer, only to do the same face-punch thing.), make me wanna flip some tables...(╯°Д °)╯╧╧ I guess I'll go on a wallet-diet next year.

Mankind Divided, MGSV, and now RE7. Seems a lot of childhood franchises are dropping dead like flies to me.
Ah well, Dark Souls 3 DLC next month, Dishonored 2 in November.

Good Lord, so it has come to be that the REAL RE was a fanatical rip-off of ideas from other games? Are you sure the original Resident Evil wasn't a rip-off of this game called Alone in the Dark? I've yet to play it (will check it eventually just to see how deep the similarities go), but from what I've seen it's difficult to dissmiss how much the former resembles the latter. Also I believe that it'll sell well just because it's called Resident Evil. Somehow RE6 sold lots of copies despite it beeing a lame action fest and nothing like the "real re" (or whatever people think RE games should be these days)...

If you're to compare them to how RE7 was being compared to Outlast, P.T., etc. The similarities are much more overwhelming. Yes, I played Alone in the Dark, and RE's real base is Sweet Home. Alone in the Dark may have an influence, but RE became a household name more than AITD. Eh, but if you really think RE7 is, or could be that good, then OK.╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

I think that RE7 can be good, my issue is that it's a different game and genre from the ones that I like. It's like if I were talking about a football videogame, ¿is it good, is it bad?, what I'm sure is that I don't like them don't play them.
About success, I'm not so sure, I think the game can be successful as for long years there has been a crowd asking for horror, also other horror games like Outlast, Alien, or Amnesia, reached their million sales without big difficulties, that's is success. RE7 dragging the title, the number and lack of competence, may also archive much better sales. However, I don't think it were going to steal the position to RE5, RE6 and RE2.
A lot of people likes to compare it with RE4 and foresee a similar success, but there is a huge difference between both of them, RE4 was a game that aimed from the horror niche market, to the action popular one, bringing a bigger game, more spectacular and casual fun. This RE7 is going towards the opossite direction, is making the things smaller, more isolated, slower, and changing the spectacularity for simplicity. Indeed it has their fans that wanted a horror game over the RE game, but I also seeing a lot of fans that are expecting bigger things than what RE7 are preparing. (extra modes, a lot of monsters, big environments...) I think there will be a lot of dissapointment once the game were released apart the fans that are already smelling the RE7 differences.

I think that RE7 can be good Sure it can. It's just not Resident Evil anymore. Same thing happened with Resident Evil 4. Kind of want that to happen so RE4 babbies get to know what it feels like to lose a series.

This is just my own personal contradiction towards the metaphor of "not Resident Evil anymore" but (No offense either, just my own take on it)
If a game isn't Resident Evil anymore due to the genre and the name and stuff, Then how about the people who made what WAS resident evil? They are the same people making the Resident Evil 4 we have now. And not only that, But Resident Evil characters aswell, ONE may return? If it has anything to do with absolutely, ANYTHING previously Resident Evil, It's ALSO Resident Evil. This is just my own take. I just wanted that to be known. And also, I'm a RE4 baby, But I like this too.

If it has anything to do with absolutely, ANYTHING previously Resident Evil, It's ALSO Resident Evil. Here is a horrible food analogy but it explains it well. If I take a milk bottle and put ice cream in it, it doesn't become milk. Ice cream does contain milk, but it isn't milk in any shape or form.

RE4 is praised as one of the best in the series, if not the best, for sure it lost some of the fans and the original form.

If we compare these games just in terms of basic presentation (that is the FPP viewpoint) we might as well return to the good 'ol times of doom and call these games doom clones. I don't really care what was the base for Resident Evil, only what's in front of me- if you think that it's a coincidence that RE looks and plays similarily to AitD, then good for you, I suppose, but I won't belive for a moment that Mikami & co pulled out of their assess something that was introduced a couple of years before (especially considering that Mikami himself admitted that he was aware of Alone in the Dark). And just because RE is more popular doesn't make it any more original.

"RE4 is praised a lot, so therefore your feelings about it are invalid"
