Can someone please share with me a reliable method of extracting and importing files from Resident Evil HD ARC files? I've tried using Sectus arc tool and it doesn't work for me. There is no specific BAT file in the tool set for Resident Evil HD, and when I tried to use a Revelation ARC file, pl1020.arc, and drag it over pc-rev-extract.bat nothing happened. postimg.org/image/og8y9ifx9/When I try to go CMD prompt, it asks me how I want to open the arc, and I still can't open it for something like pc-rev-extract.bat, which I would assume I'm suppost to be able to do. postimg.org/image/ny27w1kzr/Either I'm doing something wrong, or there a different way to go about doing this. Any and all advice would be helpful.

I dont even know what pl1020 arc is? unless you mean pl20 which is Chris BSAA, but anyway. Simply drag a arc over either the re6 or rev extract and you will see a folder appear called the same as the arc. Inside is everything extracted.

Thats all well and good (got that working) but how do we convert TEX to DDS so we can mod textures?
There doesn't seem to be ANY real tutorial on modding here... and those who can mod don't share their methods.. Would love to try and remake some classic RE1 outfits (like the Sega Saturn exclusives and Director's Cut ones)

^ So, we have to edit the TEX files instead of converting them??
Can someone please just type a quick step by step in bulletpoint form?
So we extract the ARC file.. Then what? How do we edit textures and convert them..
Obviously then you'd repack back into an ARC after that..

No no, when you extract a Remasterd/RE6/RE5 Arc, all texs are converted to DDS, to edit DDS you need Nvidias plugin for Photoshop, then you can edit it there. Once done say for example its a simple reskin for a shirt or jacket, if it doesn't have alphas I usually save it as DX1, if something has alphas I usually save it as DX5 and if not DX3. I can't explain unless I make a full on tutorial which for me I only know basics, I've never really done NM or MM. Hope this helps somewhat? xD

Thats great - but for some reason, the ARC extractor I'm using doesn't convert automatically for me, all files are in TEX format.. Will try again and see if I can get it working.. Strange.

- Edit
- add -tex just before "%1" like this: arctool -x -rev -texRE6 -pc -alwayscomp -txt -tex %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 %7 %8 %9
You should add this to repack also I believe

Your a star.. thank you so much.. I did read about this ''-tex-'' in the readme, but had no idea what it meant. Fingers crossed and I shall release some small re-texture mods soon

OK so I made my textures in DDS format and have them in the folder that ARCTool made for me (named folder 'Arc Tool 0') So , I drag this folder into the REV repack batch, and nothing appears to happen.. I have the pl01.arc (original) still in the ARCTool folder (I dragged this into the batch file in the same folder/window to extract, and it worked fine) Tested in-game with this ARC file thinking that it had been overwritten with new textures - but nothing - and yes, I put the -tex into the batch file as you stated.. Its a shame, coz I have some pretty awesome textures (remade a Beta skin for Jill) but if only I can repack it

Then copy pl08 into your installer or manually. (P.S pl08 was an example) Also make sure your extracting with the same game batch as the repack, so for example if you use rev extract, repack with rev repack, Sectus told me it would cause issues otherwise.

Still nothing - I even dragged the pl01 folder over every batch file to see if anything happened, and nothing. When I extracted the ARC in the first place, the DOS box window came up and showed a lot of white text (because it was extracting) but when I repack, this doesn't happen.. the box simply flickers on screen for a second and then goes.
Does the program make a completely new ARC file? (If I didn't have an ARC in the folder, would it repack and make one, with the new textures..
Its a shame, coz I have the textures sat in the folder, but cannot get them to repack.. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I'm positive I'm using the same type (REV) as the extract too.. made sure of it.

Okay lets try and debug this:
1. is your rev repack batch when you click edit this "arctool -c -rev -texRE6 -alwayscomp -pc -txt -v 7 -tex %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 %7 %8 %9" 2. yes, if you delete the arc and repack the folder, itll make a new arc AS LONG as you kept the .txt files from when you extracted them 3. What textures did you edit if you mind me asking?

I found this amazing tutorial on Youtube,
so I'm going to follow this I think (should work the same) This way, I don't think I'll get muddled up with the file names and folders.
I modded Jill's STARS beret, vest, pants and the corresponding bumpmaps and specular? maps (so it matched the main texture changes, like a shorter shirt)
ACTUALLY - I think I've just figured out the problem. I had the Arctool and original pl01 in one folder, yet Arctool extracted to another folder (which was NOT in the Arctool root folder.. ) Is this causing the errors here?
Anyway, going to add the .arc file names into the batch EDIT like on this video - then I hopefully can't go wrong.

Ok.. still not working even with this fool proof method (I followed the video to the letter) The ARCTool makes a new folder titles pl01 , I edited the DSS files, and then ran the batch file to repack to ARC - nothing. It doesn't even create a new arc file (and I kept the .txt file like you said) I don't understand why it lets me extract, but not repack.. Gonna call it quits for now - but will attempt to come back to this. After making such a cool mod - I really wanna see it in-game
