Please tell me which .smd plugin for 3D Max to use to export .smd models? I downloaded several different plugins on the Internet, but each of them has drawbacks, for example, when exporting a .smd model and converting a new .bin file based on it, the game may simply crash or not load textures correctly, even if no changes were made to the file.
Should I use Blender or other programs to edit the .smd file, or will they be even more of a problem than 3D Max?

I use this SMD pluggin which has support for various versions of 3ds Max. THe only issues I have had with this one is that: - it will add bones for any meshes (and sub-meshes) that are present during export, so those need to be removed. (see tool below) - it rearranges the bone order on export. - one annoyance is that when finishing the export you actually have to click 'OK' instead of pressing Enter. The fix for the bone issues is super easy though. Son of Persia made a tool called ' GC_GC_Skeleton_Changer.exe' that fixes the bone order. I have reuploaded it HERE if anyone wants to use it. There is a simple read me file I created as well to show how it works. Cheers!

Hi, I've followed the guide up until the very last steps without much trouble. Now I am having trouble generating my new .bin. When I run the .bin generation tool it crashes and it produces .bin, .tcs, and .tpl files that are each 0kb in size. Does anyone have any tips of where I can start troubleshooting this crashing issue? I am working with a .smd file that was exported from milkshape. Should I perhaps use the plugin for 3dsmax instead?

Hi, after completing the guide I am now left with new modded versions of .udas and .pack files. Is there any need to recompress these files into .lfs formats? Or do I simply rename my newly created mod files to have the .lfs file extension at the end? Thanks!

Theres a tool to recompress called "re4lfs" i've uploaded for you HERE just simple drag and drop the file on "re4lfs.exe" and it will automatically compress You can also decompress using the same exe instead the LFS Extractor, thats very useful.

Thanks a lot! I also found Emoose's original post for this tool that explains how to setup the .bat files for the different functions. I have my mod up and running and my game launches and loads the assets without any issues!
