Hi, I tried porting this mod (http://residentevilmodding.boards.net/thread/964/remove-film-grain-effect) to the newer 1.1.0 version of RE4HD but I came to a block. I've never even done stuff like this before but searching around for a long time I managed to figure out QuickBMS, its extraction script and YZ2tool. I extracted the newer 07000000 pack file and the mod made by marcelo20xx, but the original RE4HD 0193 file is in some DDS format and the mod by marcelo20xx is in TGA format. I thought this would be a simple copy paste but it very much wasn't lol... any tips/help?

Hello there! you have several possible options: 1 - use Raz0r's trainer and never worry about film grain again. There is an option to disable it. But since oyu are using newer 1.1.0 version of RE4HD this will not be possible. Using the original 1.0.6 exe would solve this issue 2 - You can remove the .tga file and use the .dds file instead (or vice versa). The RE4UHD game engine does not distinguish between these formats when loading, so even if the MTL file for a model has .tga and there is a .dds in the pack file for that entry, the game will still load the texture. This film grain hack, as nice as it was at the time, is actually not a good way to remove grain. There are other effects in the game that use this texture, and by removing it you also deprive yourself of other effects. 3 - Once the new EFF tools by Son of Persia are released to the public you can simply edit the effect 1_0_47 out of the EFF file and the film grain will be removed. If you need more help with those files let me ,im happy to help. Happy Modding!

Is there an import and export version for 3ds max? I'm dreaming too much, but it would be great.

If so, the answer is no and unfortunately the main developer for SMD pluggins for 3dsMax (wallworm) said he is not interested in making his tools compatible with Son of Persia's tools. This leaves is with no working smd options for 3ds max unless we use a very old 2012 version for which there is another smd tool that works well. The only other option I know of is to use Milkshape

The SMD tools works fine, however it's kind of annoying to be converting "smd bin" this is kind of tiring, the MT_FRAMEWORK scripts are great, maybe one so for re4 version would be great, I'm doing 3D modeling course with 3ds max, but the course does not have MAXSCRIPT language, I think this is too much for my head "3D modeling and MAXSCRIPT language"

yes it would be convenient but there is still no way (that I know of) to even export SMD files with proper bone mappings from 3DSmax 2017-2018.
If there is a way can you tell me what pluggin you are using to export .smd models from 3DSMax. ?
Cheers!

Wow, really? haha I now the little exported an SMD file using 3ds max 2017 I think this is very simple, the problem of you import a smd to 3ds max, you have to configure the patch for 3ds max to load the smd textures, another metadata to apply the texture, you would go to edit mesh and select element and you select each of your part of model and dragging the texture to it, this part is very time consuming. I used this SMD plugin on 3ds max 2017: SMD IMPORTER: www.wunderboy.org/downloads/3dsmax_smd_importer_v1-1-zip/SMD EXPORTER: www.wunderboy.org/downloads/3dsmax_smd_exporter_v1-7-zip/

Hopefully I NEVER have to use MilkShape 3D again! a few questions about this for you, but perhaps I will ask a new question in a new thread. Thanks!

Open the .udas with the .udas tool and the .BIN & .TPL files are in there. Use the .Bin tools from the 2018 release as they dont require that you type out all the names of each BIN & TPL (its automatic and will do the entire list of files in the folder) Hapyy Modding!

The author of the video (formally known as Markos), removed all of his material and has since disappeared. It really sucks because a lot of people found it useful.
