Removing Chicago Typewriter Exclusive and adding her to the Merchant to receive Updates (PS2)
Hello everyone, after a long time and following requests, I decided to share this knowledge by creating this tutorial on how to remove the exclusive Chicago Typewriter weapon in Resident Evil 4 for PS2.
But that's not all, I'll also show you how to add her to the Merchant to receive updates.
Changes can be made directly to the ISO or directly to the game's executable file.
Works on all game versions (SLUS, SLES e SLPM).
First open the ISO or executable file in any Hexadecimal editor of your choice, in this case I will be using HxD.
In my case I chose to use the executable file of the American version of the game (SLUS_211.34).
Now press "Ctrl+F" to display the "Find" menu and put in the "Hex values" tab and in "Search for:"
Copy and Paste the following Header for Chicago Typewriter with All Updates and Exclusive (Game Default):
Initial Header: 0F 00 42 30 03 00 00 10 06 00 02 A6 06 60 02 24
After finding the values, change the 13th and 14th bytes to 00 00.
The end result will look like this:
Final Header Result: 0F 00 42 30 03 00 00 10 06 00 02 A6 00 00 02 24
With that the Chicago Typewriter will be without the Upgrades and Exclusive, becoming a normal Lv1 weapon.
Now we can add it to the Merchant to receive updates like a normal weapon.
Next step we have to add the Chicago Typewriter weapon in the Merchant.
To do this, again press "Ctrl+F" to display the "Find" menu and put in the tab "Hexadecimal values" and in "Search for:"
Copy and Paste the following Header for Weapon Upgrades at Merchants in Story Mode - Firepower, Fire Speed, Reload Speed and Capacity:
Full Header from 001F15D0 to 001F191F:
How the Offsets Referring to Merchant Updates Work:
FF FF 00 00 00 00 00 00 = Separates Merchant Updates (You can change this entry to any other weapon upgrade, the game will then combine the two upgrades).
23 00 02 02 02 02 00 00 = First Update for the Handgun.
23 00 = Weapon ID (Can be changed to another weapon).
02 02 02 02 = Upgrade levels in the following order: Firepower, Fire Speed, Reload Speed and Ammo Capacity.
00 00 = End of each Update.
Observation: Weapons usually have 6 upgrades in total for Firepower and Capacity.
If you put the value 07, the game will consider it as an exclusive weapon upgrade.
This applies to any of the 4 types of upgrades, if you set a value higher than the maximum value it will automatically add a unique upgrade for them.

Knowing this, just add the Chicago Typewriter weapon entry to the Merchant.
You can add multiple entries and add updates as your Lv increases, or simply put the value mentioned above:
34 00 07 01 02 07 00 00 this amount unlocks all weapon upgrades on the Merchant at once.
As with all the other weapons mentioned in the example above, if you put the last quoted value in the list for each weapon, this will unlock all upgrades already on the first Merchant.
Link to my video I made in 2020 about it here.
The values found for Weapon Upgrades in the Merchant for the PS2 were found more easily, thanks to the help of this topic here.
As you can see, the Chicago Typewriter weapon always has the same maximum Firepower value, which is 10.0 regardless of the upgrade Lv.
This means that you will have to edit the weapon's attributes as well, if you want to make it weaker or stronger.
To modify the attributes of each weapon, see this topic here.
