I’ve been replaying Outbreak lately and thought: I’d like to see an HD version of my favorite Outbreak character, since there’s only the low poly PS2 model. So I started editing Leon’s head and hair meshes - lowkey inspired by chiarav1’s work lol. After a few hours this is my progress so far These are the first tests I’ve done and I think I’m on the right track, I mixed in Carlos' face textures and they look much better than Leon's. I’m also surprised by how well the hair worked right away, the default bone positions are perfect for Kevin's hair. I should also note that I’m using Scott Kennedy’s sleeveless RPD costume mod for now. I’ll eventually modify Leon’s Classic RPD costume, removing the sleeves, elbow & knee pads, radio and adding a new shirt neck.

How are you able to modify the head mesh? Whenever I try, it messes up the mesh and my Leon head mesh ends up with black spots and weird lines on his face and neck. And the hair, it looks absolutely good! I actually prefer this hairstyle over default Leon's hair lol I can't wait to see your finished product. By any chance can you share the hair mesh, please? I'd like to try it on default Leon lol

Thanks everyone! Now that I’m editing faces I’m realizing how weird some characters can look in cutscenes with RE Engine lol, I guess it’s because there’s 2 different faces in one since the models didn’t do the mocap. Leon’s “baby face” in some cutscenes doesn’t really fit Kevin who’s supposed to be 31 and more cocky than RE4 Leon, but I think he looks pretty good in regular gameplay and model viewer so far. I'm also seeing the possibility of adding beard mesh, right now I'm gonna test with Nikolai's beard from RE3R which is actually modeled And I'm testing the edited costume too Holy hell this is perfect!!! Great job omg!!!! How are you able to modify the head mesh? Whenever I try, it messes up the mesh and my Leon head mesh ends up with black spots and weird lines on his face and neck. I'd like to try it on default Leon lol Thanks, I exported the head fbx with Alphaz's Noesis script, edited the vertices on Maya and exported back as fbx to Noesis, then to RE2 mesh. The black spots glitch should be fixed with the latest version of the script. And sure, I can share the hair, although I haven't tested it on a full playthrough yet Kevin hair for Leon

You've got to be kidding me? Was just thinking yesterday that it would be nice to have a sleeveless version of Leon's Classic outfit to go with this, and I'll be damned if you didn't do that as well!

About the tip... I was hoping you'd get into more detail on how I could properly mod the headmesh? I use 3DS Max so I was hoping it could work for that one, too All I want to do is reduce the size of Leon's cheekbones and lips as well as make his face a little narrow to make him resemble his Darkside Chronicles version a bit more lol And thanks for the hair. I'll test it out lol

I'm not sure if the workflow can be the same on 3ds Max, so if it still gives you trouble maybe you could try using another 3D software and export to .mesh with the Noesis script instead

This is genuinely the best mod I've seen for this game, you've done an incredible job especially with so few resources! I can't wait to see what else you do. Amazing, just amazing.

Honestly, I think it's the editable poly that corrupts the mesh but maybe if I just edit the mesh vertices, it'd be fine XD Thanks for the mod. And btw the hair looks great! It's a little off when it comes to physics but not that noticeable. It looks really good on Leon, I actually prefer this hairstyle on him lmao

Oh wow, thanks for the kind words! I see, well thanks anyway lol I'll try the vertices thing on 3DS Max. And yeah I've been noticing the physics behave a little weird sometimes, notably when walking while aiming so I'll see if I can smooth things out more Progress on this mod has been slower than I planned due to some personal issues that happened recently, but I'm continuing to test now. I'll also start editing the bandaged version of the costume, so it can fit the story and for those that haven't beaten Leon Hardcore S rank yet like me lol

If you use Dante's head from DMC 5 with the dark hair, he looks pretty much how I'd expect Kevin to look in an REengine remake of Outbreak. I did this a while back when I was working on an Outbreak Mod for RE2 but I couldn't get anyone else onboard. Using this head should also reduce issues with animations and such since DMC 5 is made in the same engine. I had this idea about using various other mods like the one that removes objects from blocked hallways and the mod that removes blood from the walls (and turns on the lights) together to re-create the Desperate Times scenario from Outbreak. imagehost

Oh damn, Dante does make a pretty good Kevin, I never thought of that. Although I don't know how to properly import new head models to the games with working animations, I haven't tried that yet so that's why I just started editing Leon's face. Even if they're in the same engine I don't think it's a simple port, there's some differences with the RE games
I noticed the Kevin PS2 model head doesn't look exactly the same as the CG renders so I've been taking from both. For now I could use Dante's head as reference too
Also I love that RPD idea, I still prefer the classic look and Desperate Times is one of my favorite Outbreak scenarios
