What I'd like to see is a mod that changes the color grading for each room. Like how the main hall is tinted green but when you go into the west office everything becomes tinted blue. And the sewers are green too. There must be some way to change the color of those tints in the game files

I think that the blue tint you're talking about is what bothers me the most. The main hall has a nice warm colour, but when you enter dark areas, it turns very blue, as if it almost completely eliminates red. I talked about this over here: fearlessrevolution.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=10575 . The guys from the Fearless forum suggested that a modding community might be more appropriate for my request, and that's how I got here. Anyway, I tried to compensate for the lack of light and this ugly blue tint by messing with a couple of ReShade flashlight shaders with added warmer tint and a key to turn them on and off. But the results weren't exactly what I had in mind (as you can see in the last pics from the link above). However, in the past couple of days I tried 3dmigoto, and had some sort of success with it. This piece of software seems to find already applied shaders, and I think I found one which is responsible for the entire dark stuff. With that shader completely disabled, it really started to look like the original. But then I exited the game, re-entered, lost all the save progress, and the game returned me to the gas station Maybe because of 3dmigoto, maybe because I changed my PC's mainboard recently, I don't know. When I have more time, I will try to mess with it again, and maybe take some screenshots.
PS: If we get to use this, we will probably also need a way to disable the flashlight, because without the darkness, the flashlight beam becomes both unnecessary and too bright.

A little update: here's a few shots showing what I got so far by messing with 3dmigoto! Maybe it needs some tweaking to make it look good, but I very much prefer this to the defaults because it has no blue tint, no darkness, no vignette... The first two rooms are dark by default (hence the working flashlight), while the third one is the well-lit library.
LE: However, the examples above are not in the darkest places in the game. This is a dark corridor comparison (up=default, down=3dmigoto): The problems I encountered up until now with this are the flashlight when it's not needed, and the game being too bright on the city streets (where there are a lot of small fires along the way).

You can disable the flashlight with RE Framework mod (also has a first person mod and a free-cam mod built-in)

I tried combinations. ReShade does work along with 3dmigoto, but RE Framework doesn't seem to work

leon5keneddy How do you use 3dmigoto with RE2? I copy the files to my game directory, disable RE Framework, start the game, see the log files generated saying that it is getting hooked, but then nothing else happens. Is there supposed to be some kind of on screen display? I heard the num pad is supposed to change shaders but nothing is happening. EDIT: Nevermind, I just downloaded an old version because I assumed the newest version would be at the top of the list. Instead it is in pretty random order

I tried combinations. ReShade does work along with 3dmigoto, but RE Framework doesn't seem to work Raz0r's Ultimate Trainer has an option to make the flashlight toggle-able as well. You can get it on Nexus Mods if you'd like to try and see if it works with it.

It's so nice to see so many in our community liking this idea. Thanks for all the nice things you said. What I did is just use the 3dmigoto software and disable a certain shader. I tried editing the shader code (output by 3dmigoto) in many ways, but disabling it altogether still yields the best results.
I will try to make a little pack somewhere in the next days if I find the time.

Thanks for this trainer, I didn't know about it. I tried it, the Flashlight feature doesn't seem to work for me, at least with 3dmigoto I also keep trying to import some old saves so I can pick up where I left off (I want to enable 2nd run, basically), but couldn't do it with this trainer. Maybe because I have Steam installed in a non-standard location.

Good news! The Ultimate trainer DOES work along with 3dmigoto, it's just me who was an idiot I thought activating the hotkey section and pressing the corresponding one should be enough, but just now I realised that the trainer has scrollbars and there are tons of options in the lower part, including the one which activates the manual flashlight. So now, the game really starts to look good and the silly tension created by the flashlight is gone! ohh thank god i cant wait for the mod disabling this blue tint cause it was annoying,(anyway i hope its not a reshade and more of a modification on the files)you know potato pc .but again thanks i am so excited for this I know what you're saying, haha! What I did was disable a shader, so I think the performance should actually increase a little
For all the people eager to test this, I created a little package with the first alpha version, and you can download it here:
Please check it out and tell me if and how it works for you.
Unpack all the files to the root of your RE2 installation folder (usually: [your Steam folder]\steamapps\common\RESIDENT EVIL 2 BIOHAZARD RE2\ )
Run the game and it should work if you select "TAA" in Options -> Graphics -> Anti-aliasing. The "OFF" option also works, but it looks much worse.
If you don't like it, don't want it anymore, or if things go bad for any reason, running the included 3dmigoto uninstall.bat (also from the installation folder) should get rid of it. Even though I played with shader files a lot, I never had to use the Steam option which can be used to restore proper game files.
Don't forget about disabling the flashlight if you want to feel more of the original atmosphere.
In the near future, it probably needs some way to use toggle the effect. For instance, the main screen and the city part looks pretty bad with this enabled, but I'll take that over the RPD looking dark and blue. I'll try to do more when I have the time, but I lack both spare time and knowledge to do this properly.
Enjoy!
