Hi all. I have succeeded in fixing inventory crash of character swapping. We can now deal with merchant in UHD.
This is possible in RE4 2007 version but has been impossible in UHD. I have finally made it. My Video in YouTube This is the download link to Inventory Crash Fix Patch. I made this fix for all languages. But I can't test my fix in French/German/Italian/Spanish. I don't have bio4.exe of those languages. I tested Japanese and English only. So I explain how I fixed the crash to the moders in those countries. I give you my permission to edit my files if you find something wrong. 1.What causes inventory crash ?This game uses 2 kinds of inventory in accordance with the game mode. ss_pzzl.dat ------ Leon's inventory (Main Game) omk_pzzl.dat --- Other character's inventory (Mercenaries/Separate Ways/Assignment Ada)
You can find the hint if you extract and compare them. See the picture below. As you see 006 and 007 are bin and tpl in ss_pzzl.dat. But they are DMY in omk_pzzl.dat. This means omk_pzzl.dat lacks something. This is the reason of inventory crash. DMY in omk_pzzl.dat are the bin files that are needles in Mercenaries, Separate Ways and Assignment Ada. Mercenaries characters use omk_pzzl.dat even when they are swapped into main game. So if they have a weapon which is DMY in omk_pzzl.dat, the game crashes by the lack of bin file. 2.How to make the fix file
It is easy. Take a look at all DMY in omk_pzzl.dat and compare the same number in ss_pzzl.dat. If it is also DMY in ss_pzzl.dat you don't need to touch it. But if it is bin and tpl in ss_pzzl.dat this number must be copied into omk_pzzl.dat. 3.What you need to do after you understand above
1) Convert bin into smd and paste correct textures 2) Export the smd then convert it into bin / make correct tpl on this process (see below) 3) Repack omk_pzzl.dat 4) Make imagepack file in accordance with the language you use omk_pzzl.dat calls following imagepack. SS/jpn/omk_pzzl.dat---2e000000.pack SS/eng/omk_pzzl.dat---2e000001.pack SS/fra/omk_pzzl.dat---2e000002.pack SS/ger/omk_pzzl.dat---2e000003.pack SS/ita/omk_pzzl.dat---2e000004.pack SS/esp/omk_pzzl.dat---2e000005.packAll these imagepack end with 0127.dds. So I added new textures from 0128.dds. Thanks for reading. Try this patch in character swapping in UHD. Any feedback is welcome.

When I read the title I thought it was for the limitation of polygons, But from a certain point of view it is better, I mean playing with the alternate characteres without crash is great. What a good contribution, Greetings and thanks

oh man you really have a PHD about UHD so congratulations and thank you for your effort----------------------------------------------- i have a question "We can now deal with merchant in UHD" "This is possible in RE4 2007 version"you mean buying leon's weps and stuffs? but how? as i know mocap files for most of weps have just captured on leon's skeleton and bones and i never have seen a fixing mod like that for old version can you tell me that where can i find a link for it? please forgive me for asking a silly question like that unfortunately i can't watch the streaming videos cause of a issue with my isp even onedrive (also yadisk and mega!) is refusing my low speed connection after few seconds
but i really love a mod like this can you give me a mediafire link but if you don't have a account in mediafire just ignore this request and please forgive me

What a good contribution, Greetings and thanks maybe (just maybe) there is a weired trick for getting rid of uhd limitations! i have done it 15 years ago for another game so i'm not sure about re4uhd engine but i just hope so (actually wasn't exactly same issue but when i'm thinking about it , i think maybe it can be possible to do for this rock age engine! ) ( i'm talking about just %20 chance so not very hopeful)

What a good contribution, Greetings and thanks Thank you ! Yea pzzl.dat needs one more fix about size limit. I was afraid of the limit because I needed to add another 36 files to omk_pzzl. Fortunately we can repack it inside the limit.

this is awesome....one step closer to have completely fixed mercenaries characters in main game!!! Thank you. I found one thing about what we can purchase from merchant. If Wesker sells all his weapons (handgun/semi auto rifle/killer7) he has no weapons of course. But he can purchase them again and can use them. All weapons are vanilla but possible to tune up. It seems there is no difference between Leon's and Wesker's about what merchant sells. But they use different wepxx.udas in the game. This is the fact I found.

All what you need is one simple script.
Edit:
German version isn't working so I swapped to english and everything is just fine. So maybe you should fix or remove german.

First I thought you did something to equip every character with all weapon but I have found some way to fix that too. All what you need is one simple script. IF this is possible it is by adding the proper animations to the Mercs character's udas & wep.dat files OR by adding Merc's character animations and wep.dat to Leon's. I have not been able to do this YET, but working on it presently. There are many issues, mostly with the weapons animations. Lots of heavy modding, but it might be possible. "All what you need is one simple script".If you have something already working, im sure many of us would be excited to see it. =) 3getu841 is a TRUE master modder, and is very kind about sharing his developments and knowledge. This is the kind of sharing spirit we need to make this game the best that it can be. Congratulations 3getu84 on fixing this for all of us, im sure we will get much farther ahead with Main Game Mercs character play with this this fix !

Still crashes after installing ? or textures are wrong ? By the way I once heard RE 4 German version is main game only. It does not contain optional game mode. Is that true ?
