I'm not necessarily looking for modding help, but I do have questions pertaining to the inner workings of the game. Specifically, how the shotguns work, what long range means, and how these shotguns all differ from each other.
If you're unfamiliar with shotgun mechanics, let me explain what I know so far:
In the (main) game, there are three shotguns, the "Shotgun" (Which I have come to call the Remington, because it's based off of one of the Remington shotguns), the Riot Gun, and the Striker. All shotguns fire about three or four pellets (Which act as normal bullets with either the firepower of the gun itself or a fraction of that firepower. I'm not sure.) that randomly choose a direction below a certain angle of deviation, with one pellet ALWAYS going exactly where you aim the gun. But in addition to that, the gun fires a sort of cone that stops at a certain distance. Whether that figure be a flat-based cone or a spherical cone is unknown. This cone causes knockback or stun on most enemies that finds themselves in it. It is unknown if this cone also damages enemies, and if it does, how much.
Currently, the three shotguns have their vague ranges as such:
Remington: Normal ranges, "effective at any distance" on Exclusive
Riot Gun: "Longer ranges"
Striker: "Wideshot", demonstrably much less damage at any ranges outside of point blank (effectively a melee weapon)
Now, the wiki says that the "range" upgrade for the Remington makes it so pellets always do full damage, regardless of range. This sounds plausible, but have we actually confirmed that? The Riot Gun's "long range" is said to mean it has a tighter spread, but I've tested it in-game myself, and I see no difference between the maximum spreads of the Riot Gun and the Remington. And does the Striker have a shorter but wider stun cone, like I would assume?
Any help on understanding the mechanics of shotguns is appreciated.
