There are 3 versions of RE7 on steam. Resident Evil 7 - World Wide version (Full uncut violence) Biohazard 7 - Gotesque Version (Cut version of the WW RE7) Biohazard 7 - Low Violence (Even more cut then the Grotesque version with all dismemberments cut) Here are some pics comparing... In all cases below we have "Biohazard 7 - Grotesque" version (Red Logo) in the top image and "Resident Evil 7 - World Wide" version (Cream Logo) in the bottom image. Not bothering with showing "Biohazard 7 - Low Violence" version. Difference #1 Difference #2 Difference #3 Difference #4 So if you see "Resident Evil" on your title screen know that you have the most violent version of RE7.

All I can say is WW version of RE7 is better, more guts and gore is the best way to go in a horror game. If you make a game based around mutilated body parts, people dieing gruesomely and painfully, you just can't sit there and censor and/or replace a lot of the good bits of the game. I mean I'm half afraid of what they did with the DLCs especially the DLC "21" they probably made Clancy look away every time him or Hoffman got a finger cut off x.x
Edit: I did a bit of research and found out why they cut so many of the good bits, turns out a lot of gory stuff in Japan is considered a ban-able game. Anything with limbs being cut off, gory body parts (hence why they are covered in black goo like substance instead of real blood) and anything in general thats considered too gory is ban-able in their country. Their biggest taboo is decapitation which is why in re4 japanese version leon doesn't get his head cut off by the chainsaw man (and also can't head pop enemies as well) and in re7 the police officer's head doesn't get cut in half and fall apart like in the U.S. version.
