I just want to see how well/poorly RE7 sold so I can get decide whether or not to throw RE in the trash and go cozy up with my new Japanese franchise lover: Yakuza. Well, from what I'm aware it was expected to immediately do 4. It only did 3 confirmed (shipped, not sold tally) and the digital distributions have not been tallied either, but the 4 was for physical sold alone off the top of my head. Financial reports state positive details, but the numbers are lower than this time/financial quarter last year. It makes me think of an old thing from The Simpsons, with Homer running after the roast pig yelling out "It's still good, it's still good" despite everything going on with it in general. Seems to be the perfect summary of how I feel about hearing the current financial report and looking at 7 in general. (Ryū ga Gotoku is a great series, if you got Zero then I hope you enjoy it! Kiryu is awesome, I also love Majima! If you have a PS3, I recommend that you check out Ryū ga Gotoku OF THE END. It was localized as Yakuza Dead Souls, it's more or less a homage to horror games & zombie things in particular. Commercial for it. Majima also singing in one of his alt costumes for fun).

That Homer comparison is hilarious, good lord. Anyway yeah I got Zero at the urging of my friends. Not played much (LIFE SUCKS) but Kiryu is adorably hilarious so far and Majima is... Majima.

It would be typical "Japanese video game developer" to not give away any financial details... It reminds me of Square Enix in that sneaky sense.
@commambershep I am wondering, how do you feel about REV2? I felt like that game won me over and in some way gave me hope for the series... Which was later gone as soon as they announced Umbrella Corps, but I digress.

While it was nice to give screentime to Claire and Barry after so many years, it's kind of a flaccid game and I really think they only produced it for the sake of paying the Weskers some more lip service and trying to satiate the portion of the fandom that misses Claire and Barry. The gameplay is hollow and unsatisfying, guns feel kind of mediocre (better than 7 tho) and raid mode is a colossal waste of time, but ultimately it was a decent way to kill 8 hours and it's by no means a BAD game, just a kind of pointless one. Also Claire with her hair down killed me.

The story of REV2 was flatter than RE7 and REV1.
The gameplay is meh, no it's actually good but not incredible. Personally I would say REV1 had a much more balance between classic tank controls and modeen controls and fits RE game more than REV2 and 6.
RE7 kinda has the same feel, except its first person and feels akwqrd to move, strafe sometimes, overall feels a bit cheap.

Honestly, I feel like both Revelations titles would not have been as pointless if they had actually been linked to titles yet to be released (at the time they were) in a meaningful way. Of course, that would be too much to expect from this developer, right?

It actually does have a lot of relevance in the JP version (As you'd know if you prowled the main three RE7 threads rn) but in English? HAH

Of course, that would be too much to expect from this developer, right? Well, it depends on what you count as that because in JP you get: 1. The confirmation of Albert's initial motivations throughout the series. 2. Confirmation (verbally) of where Red Queen came from. 3. Going back to 1 - details on why REV1 even happened in the first place because the tie-in to REV1 before it was even released basically got cut down to only being in the official novels. 4. More regarding how shit Spencer is in general. 5. As a result of the first four things, a character that has been expected to be on the WHITE side of the BLACK/WHITE of the series next to her brother is very clearly put as GREY in-between the good and the evils of the series. 6. There is actually a tie-in to Umbrella Corps (and whatever else references to Umbrella Corps) because there's another project going on in RAID Mode because surprise - there's actually a slight story going on that didn't get included in it. RAID Mode is actually referencing the "Gregor Project" and other things, so it's not as though stuff wasn't set up. (Hell, in Remake you'll also spot quite clearly copies of Kafka's The Castle floating around too which happens to be the book Alex is carrying around in Ep4 Claire side). It's just a factor of whether or not they actually follow stuff up, or if they just continue cutting out connections or if the connections are there - if they edit them in versions of the game so it's basically impossible to see them being there despite the fact that they actually ARE there. I'm quite happy to explain privately as to not derail the topic any further on it. For 7 individually... There is little to no connections from what we've seen thus far beyond H.C.F. so this points back to CV, GS2 CV and DSC. Also to Umbrella Corps & Heavenly Island, which in turn connected to the main series and side series via REV2. This is what gets me, there's also plenty of other ways to give us connections instead of circling around Umbrella, Neo-Umbrella again. Hell, even given the fact that Heavenly Island showed us visually transmission methods of the viridae, that one of these games could be entirely stemming from an accident from survivors of a terror attack or something along those lines instead of it eventually revolving around experiments/test subjects (which is what the characters of 7 are being treated as), B.O.W.s, corporate espionage or those with megalomaniac tendencies.

Remind me again, how did Claire go from white to grey? It's been two years. Anyway yeah, Capcom's obsession with shoehorning Umbrella into things is getting beyond exhausting.

I hated REV1, I thought it had way too much going on in a bad way. Silly story, awful character designs. It was almost as bipolar as 6.
I was hoping REV2 was a sign of things to come because overall it felt like it was taking the series to a better place.

Remind me again, how did Claire go from white to grey? It's been two years. Anyway yeah, Capcom's obsession with shoehorning Umbrella into things is getting beyond exhausting. Was never super on the white to begin with, continually asking questions about things instead of jumping to defensive positions like Chris. Claire wanted answers from both Neil, Alex but more-so Alex with what was going on. Connected the dots about it in the end, was kind of shocked at the revelation of The Overseer being Alex Wesker. Claire felt bad, apologized to everyone including Alex for the wait to put Alex out of her misery which is why it has 'deliver the killing blow of mercy' (word meaning that) for the last objective. It got changed out to Claire being aggressive in English instead of apologizing. Lines got cut too across multiple versions too, you can find a good chunk of them in the subtitle data but unfortunately not all of them have the matching voice over data still remaining. The programming for the game does have them listed, but the files don't exist so when it can't find the file it simply doesn't play the audio in general. Some of the removed lines from the last section from the originally localized English side - Claire: God, just look at her. Claire: I feel kinda bad for her. Moira & Barry (alt line options) : Pfft, speak for yourself! Claire: The Wesker bloodlines...this is the end of them... Moira: I know how you feel, but aren't you forgetting something? Claire! Don't let her hurt him! There's another block of dialogue about Barry baiting Alex by setting her off by intentionally continuing to call her Wesker and trash talking in general (which is how Arklay got brought up) and that's why Claire reacts in shock because it's supposed to be the big thing of both storylines being connected with Claire having 'The Overseer' side because the focus was towards Neil being the bad on that side, whereas Barry got the 'truth' of the matter with the bad on his side being Alex Wesker no longer hiding behind the facade of being The Overseer. Anyway, not really the topic for me to ramble on about REV2 again. It would be nice if they went into other things like, yes there was an impact in general from Umbrella but not everything needs to lead directly back to Umbrella continually. If they need to then having things detailed for 'tiers' of characters that are in the middle of things is fine, but setting it up and then leaving even more loose threads is very annoying. Especially when it's quite clear they're never going to follow certain ones up.

Jack looks ugly and young on Daughters Banned Video lol. He looks fresh though.
Question: So Lucas chopped off Clancy's fingers but in "Happy Birth day" Video, I didn't see any cut marks on Clancy's fingers.
And seems like Lucas was normal guy. I thought he was criminal or somethin.
Eveline is a dick by the way. Even after all the care Bakers were giving, she just fucked everyone up with her mold.

Having realized I won't bring myself to play through this tedious game I watched both endings.
Man, this game is really stupid. Ethan's character had the worse vocal direction in the entire series. An example for good vocal direction would be Mia's, her voice is the only thing that redeems her character.
It's all very artificial in the worst way possible, I really didn't feel anything for these characters.

Somehow it feels as if Clancy's the main protagonist. He's much better than Ethan. His stories are much fun to watch.

Was anyone else disappointed by the final boss and cutscene? Imo it was pretty cringy and without tension. The fact that e_001 was the grandmother was perfect but why at broad daylight? And why immediately that final form? They also should've atleast made something creepy happen right before the credits. Perhaps Mia still being affected by the virus at home. Indicating that the vaccine only helps when you crumble the host.
Also the fake choice with Zoe was pretty weak. Could've at least implemented another route and plot twist there.
