I've followed two different youtube tutorials, I've made sure I have the newest arc tools I can fine, but I just seem to crash my game over and over.
First I extract the arc, then I convert the tex file to a dds.
I alter the dds file and make it back into a dxt1 compressed file before making it back into a tex file.
Then, I use a hex editor to make it so it won't look for that file in the arc it came from.
After that I do the whole native pc folder setup tango. What do I get, "Failed to open such and such file."
EVERY TIME! I have no idea what I'm missing at this point, the only thing I can say for certain is I am using gimp instead of photoshop like both tutorials, but I used compressorator for compression like they did so I assumed it didn't matter.

That's what the tutorial I watched said to do, when I try repacking the arc with my modified tex file it just crashes the game. I'm a little bit lost.

In the re5 batch... add -tex somewhere so it converts all .tex to .dds instantly. after that you shouldn't have to do anything. just edit textures and repack the whole arc.

I have it working now thanks to a different arc extractor and repacker. The biggest issue I ran into is it might in fact be GIMP, when I resave the textures with Paint.Net, it seems relatively fine.
