Honestly, it is pretty late to be starting a fresh with new characters since they've milked the other characters for 5 games now. I mean they really should've done new vunerable character every 2nd game. RE2 Leon was a rookie cop and Claire was just a university student. But by their dumb logic they had to bring back, Jill in RE3, Claire in RE Code Veronica and Leon for RE4. Make hims Mr wise cracking badass, so they brought Chris and made him a buff badass in RE5, and then in RE6 bring both bad asses back and overshadow the new characters, oh and Jake he's a badass through blood. I mean really, What if they had an entirely different RE5, where Sheva and Allison are relief workers caught in the Las Plagas, attack in Africa? Or in RE6 you are Helena and some other bodyguard security joe caught in a bio terrorist attack to assassinate the president? In Tall Oaks, Edonia and Lanshiang, you are normal citizens caught in the chaos? (Those would be good Outbreak files btw) Or in Revelations, be civilians on a cruise ship or at the mercy of Alex Wesker's plan? Point is the argument for new characters NOW, is utter bullshit! They've had countless times again and again at re-enacting horror and using vulnerable fresh characters set in all sorts of scenarios, but they refused to because they saw the popular characters and the action co-op as a cash grab, exactly as they see with utilizing FPS, Outlast, Slenderman tactics. It's all for cash. Sheva, Helena, Piers, heck even Ashley, did not have to be side characters nor even badasses (Ahsley wasn't but then she wasn't co-op either) Basically they should just admit they did it all for money, not for the fans, not for the returns to horror roots, just money. So Umbrella Corps is FPS shooter and RE7 is FPS horror. . . . . . . .. . . . *throws shot glass into a wall* End of silly rant.

capcom confirmed the demo/teaser released today is not even going to be in the final game. For me it sounds like an attempt to escape from a sinking ship. They could announce it at the conference, but no, they did it only after how to get more negative reviews, indignation and reaction from the public. Now they are trying to justify themselves, that it is not part of the game. I do not argue, perhaps they just wanted to show in more detail the possibility of a new game engine in this manner, but the players did not accept such a concept and now they are trying to soften the blow. Now I feel like I went back in 2000. I remember how loved to play in RE1-RE3 and one day, when I went to the store, I saw a new the game part called RE Gun Survivor. I bought the CD and was so excited to start playing. When I came home and started the game, I was completely broken. The game a had the first person view, boring and uninteresting. I thought WTF, this is RE? I was deceived? I passed this game with a big disappointment that I was irritated. After this incident, I kind of hate the first persons view in the RE series, because this kills the atmosphere for which I so loved in this series. I looked at demo gameplay and I must admit that the game looks really interesting and scary, but it's not suitable for RE series. This is one reason why so many are unhappy. If would they released the game under a different name and brand, then maybe it could work better. As I said before, if you remove RE name from the game, it looks like a completely new and different the game style like Outlast or Silent Hill. Obviously, this is just a business move in favor of VR. They needed a strong brand in order to get more sales for VR system, and I'm sorry that it turned out to be RE7. I mean, that having such a popular game with a great name, they will have more sales, because if they released a game and called her for example "Spooky House", it would attract less attention for VR system. Well, I'll give another chance this game and wait, when there will be more information, because they still have time to fix something. We all remember the announcement trailers of RE5 or RE Revelations, which have shown us one thing, but in the final version, we got a completely different redesigned the game which cardinally differs from the first trailer!

If they add the ability to play from the third person view, I will feel a lot better.

Well all i can say is that, it's not RE7 (even if they call it so) so i hope it will be another deja-vu (just like what happened with now called RE3.5)

So far I'm out, from what I've seen of the trailer/demo/information on their website: this is going to be completely first person with new characters (they already confirmed none of our loved characters would be in it because they are too powerful and needed new fragile characters) , no indication of the resident evil universe besides that they say it apparently takes place in it and works in the same way as outlast/soma/amnesia/p.t + the 100s of indie steam horror games that have been farted out over the years. No signs of combat yet but it looks like it will be very limited just like the other first-person horror games its copying and pasting from. Apparently the paranormal stuff is just an illusion and there will be ties with some sort of constructed RE enemies (viruses or zombies or Ashley). I could maybe get behind this if it wasn't first person and we had 1 of our characters (Rebecca or Jill?!) as the lead but these things have already been confirmed to be the full game. I was hoping for a modern-day REmake or full version of Lost In Nightmares but instead we get something that LOOKS like its trying to be anything BUT a Resident Evil game to reel in the fanbases of popular other IPs losing all originality associated with the RE title. Capcom and the word hope can't be used in the same sentence unless its in a context similar to "Capcom makes you lose all hope".

But if the existence of other known characters are completely absent, then it makes no sense (Unless its happening in a very small or minor country where Bsaa doesn't pay any heed). As for Capcom saying that existing characters are too powerful- there are more individuals who are still in Unfinished business state. Example: Rebecca, Billy Cohen, Marcus(The dude with joll in Re3, forgot his name.. Marcus is what I guessed). Then there are Helena, Jake, Sheva and so on. They still need more story. We don't even know if Billy survived- maybe he was rotted to death by the infected dogs right after he left Rebecca. Anyway, all I can say is they need to come back again. And there might be a hope for having a 3rd person mode like Resident Evil Revelations in 3ds Hopefully..

Unfortunately they've already confirmed this isn't happening- and when I say this I don't just mean the characters won't be the main player, they won't be ANYWHERE in the game (there may be references to them via events that happened like the mansion incident or Africa incident e.t.c) and like I said capcom have highlighted that it is "entirely first person starting a new era for the Resident Evil franchise." They've pretty much already dashed all hope against the stones of a similar RE game to any of the previous titles. Plus first person camera makes me want to gag, first person and Resident Evil 7 shouldn't be a thing.
