I've seen a lot of people who genuinely bought into the "RE HAS GONE BACK TO IT'S ROOTS!" thing, and refuse to examine the game from a more critical, objective standpoint. Hence all the 9+ scores. A lot of the reviews I see mostly boil down to GOD YES MUH RE ROOTS THIS IS SO GOOD IT'S A BIT SHORT BUT THAT'S OKAY TAKE ALL MY MONEY CAPCOM HAVE MY HOUSE FUCK MY SISTER.

Talk taking things and blowing em way out of proportion on the forum and with RE7 reviews.
Anyway I feel this video is a nice review:

Funny, I thought that's how poeple were when Revelations 2 released.

The game is doing good and is steadily reaching their intended goal, with DLC coming out that's increasing game playtime and game is getting more positive reviews on a steady basis

Is a pitty that the game which has had the help of the "numbered installment" popularity and with so few competency in the VR market, has still to depend of the prolonged DLC planning to can reach the goal of 4M which their predecesors reached in the initial delivery.
Do you imagine if the game would have continued the previous trend improving its faults. The game could have already reached the 5M and those DLC plan through the year could have helped it to reach farthest.
Well, watching that the game is loosing so many purcharsers, surelly Capcom will go on with their plan to bring more games of different styles to recover them, the numbers in the Japanesse are an obvious hint. But for the people who usually interact with the fandom, already knows that the hype RE7 is lower than what previous games made.

Yea I'm not understanding all these great and perfect scores this game is getting for supposedly "going back to its roots", I mean I liked the game not going to lie but It was far from being one of the greater Resident Evil games but the hype around the internet would lead newer fans to think otherwise.
I personally still maintain that the problem was not the first person camera, Resident Evil Survivor was first person and it still felt very much like a Resident Evil game to me, the difference there is the general feel and look of the game still screamed Resident Evil from the familiar enemies to the storyline, the thing with RE7 however is the the only time I actually felt like I was in the world of Resident Evil was when I was collecting files, solving the puzzles (which where to easy), and inventory managing, other than that I just did not get the feeling that I was playing in the world of Resident Evil, felt more like I was playing in the world of a mutated version of Texas Chainsaw Massacre more than anything lol.

RE5 made the game coop and 6 turned it into Call of Duty with zombies and monsters (as if CoD didn't already have those). If anything it got more worse game after game.

If I had a nickle for every time I've heard this argument. It's invariably made by people who don't actually play COD and have no idea what they're talking about, but comparing things you don't like to COD is apparently the "cool" thing to do. The series have literally nothing in common. Here's a list, since you brought it up, of things we see in every COD game since the second numbered installment: Regenerative Health. Large firefights with very broken AI. Obligatory stealth section. Obligatory sniper section. Obligatory tank section. Lots of recurring named ally NPCs. Lots of redundant weapons. Generally not likable characters. Competitive multiplayer with ranked unlock progression. 12 year olds. Now, objectively, does Resident Evil 6 have any of these things? No, no it doesn't. I don't have a problem with you if you genuinely don't like the game but please be an adult and make your own argument.

I would have no problem paying for more story DLC if the game told an actual relevant narrative the same way the last two games (Re6 and Revelations 2), but I absolutely can't justify spending any more money on this game, especially not when the things Capcom has announced as DLC are the same kinds of stupid crap you had to do other stupid crap to unlock. So, I guess in a really meta sense the stupid crap is still there, but it's stupid because you're going back and spending more money on this game. Joke's on you!
