If you think about it, RE3 is way too short to be made into a full standalone remake, unless they do it and actually add way more content into it. Wait what? How is RE3 "way to short"? Its around the same length as RE0,RE1,and RECV in terms of gameplay length, the only reason RE2 would have more on it is due to the different scenerios like A and B for Claire and Leon both respectfully, I'm not getting where you got RE3 as being a short game from. To be honest a DLC of it would not work, they would have to condense so much of it and in the end they would fail to make it worthwhile if they went that route, as I said its the average length of your run of the mill Resident Evil game and it just would not work as DLC in my honest opinion.

Since RE2 and RE3 share so much similar assets it'd be a waste not to remake RE3 as well

Re3 have more and better puzzles than re2.
And yes, re3 have some bosses but the problem is that they repeat: Nemessis and the worm. A little poor, it can be better but i don't feel that it hurts too much the game.
And re3 use too little of re2, only a little section of the RPD what is a tiny part of the all game (less than 10% and maybe less 5%).
It deserves or be worth of the same treatment as the other independent games.
