This is interesting XD. I also was not able to make portraits but sometime ago I learned it from Kernelzilla's help also.

This is interesting XD. I also was not able to make portraits but sometime ago I learned it from Kernelzilla's help also. Yea I got help as well, it is interesting cause now I know that there are 2 portraits (one black & white while the other one is colored) and they just put the black and white portrait directly over top of the colored one and once you highlight the character you are about to choose it just hides the black and white one so the colored one is the only visible one. Also I was having difficulty saving certain portraits cause I had the new picture extending out of the original portrait which made the portrait too big and if its too big it will cause an error. For example I put a new custom picture of jill over her old picture and the new one over extends the boundaries of the old one and if you don't crop the new picture to match the length of the old one it does create an error due to being too big.
