Let's agree that RE6 as a whole has bizarre writing, more so than other RE game. I don't like the game for many reasons.
If they truly wanted to go full fan-service, they'd have not included so many new characters.

IIRC, one of the original plot ideas for RE6 was to have each Ada encountered in the series be a different clone. I'd say that the Carla plot is relatively innocuous compared to what they originally wanted to.

I don't like reimagined RE2 Claire for a few reasons. I didn't like the fact they've changed the cut of her shorts from being on her waist to the bottom of her belly, it's too low even if she has a body stocking underneath. I also don't like the exposed belly as it's unnecessary and quite unrealistic given that the game takes place at night. Finally someone else who actually agrees with me on this! I absolutely hate Claire's new look! But yeah, "realism" in games kinda ruins the enjoyment for me a bit when the characters...well, don't really stand out. There's nothing "unique" about them that grabs your attention visually and it kinda...just sucks a bit of enjoyment out of it when a character almost looks the same as another character from another game or something and it being less of "inspired" or "similar" as much as just dully alike. I.E. while Claire's outfit in say Revelations 2 is ok actually a lot of other female characters tend to wear something rather similar in "some" fashion. A jacket, shirt, baggy jeans and shoes are actually a common recurring theme among female protagonists in games. I really do prefer Claire's official Resident Evil 2 appearance and I am rather fond of Jill's Resident Evil 3 appearance. Unrealistic, yeah sure. But should we let realism dictate video games that much? That kinda reminds me of a sorta old friend (Whom I won't mention) who would talk about how unrealistic games were and yet would complain about how stupid it is that you slow down when you take damage in Left 4 Dead while we played together. Was practically tempted to just tell him "Hey, this is realism, it's what you wanted so why are you complaining?" but I digress. I have developed a bit of an interest in Elza Walker and well while yeah I do understand she had to be replaced by Claire to create a bit more of a proper connection to the first Resident Evil game I still would have liked it if Elza Walker still existed. I suppose it's probably because part of me is still heavily disappointed in how Chris and Claire's story was never really...well, properly finished. Since after Resident Evil 2 there was this story arc of Claire searching for her brother, and they reunite in Code Veronica (X) and yet they didn't go and take on Wesker together Resident Evil 5 as Sheva had to be created to try and "negate" the negative backlash for where the fifth game takes place but since that completely backfired and not only ruined a brother sister team up that was basically being built up to I can't quite help but feel a bit more what would have come from Resident Evil 1.5 at this point, especially since I've been able to dabble into it via it's PSX iso file that's been getting patch updates to make it more playable and such. While the concept of monstrous apes seem a bit ridiculous I suppose it's still plausible given we get infected dogs, ravens, mutated plants of varying degrees, a massive shark by the name of "Neptune" if I recall correctly. Seriously that big shark gave me the creeps. (But that could be I don't like sharks in general and always get nervous when I have to go in the water with them in games even when I'm able to pick them off with a gun from dry land I still get freaked out.) Not to mention the zombies were a fair bit creepier in this one. The zombies after the first game just didn't quite have the same impact. That was until we got the remake for GameCube and recently PC, and they got even creepier. I still feel tense wandering around in the mansion until I've torched the suckers and heck, they walked a bit more zombie like in the first game and it's remake. After awhile they kinda lost their senseless meandering even when they spotted you. Which made them much creepier in my opinion. The zombies in 1.5 just have this...very creepy vibe to them and far more haunting sounds. I suppose for me 1.5 also nailed atmosphere for me, plus the music used in it had a far more spookier feel to it and just felt all around more frightening almost. Hmm. Well I suppose final comments on appearances, I am fond of Elza's biker attire. And I don't entirely "care" if it's unrealistic she'd wear it. It makes her stand out, be unique. A character should be visually eye catching and in a "good" way. And plus Elza was shaping up to be a decent character, so that's another plus. My particular philosophy when it comes to appearances, make it unique but don't be "drastic" with it. Just a for instance while Jill's outfit in RE3 seems impractical it actually has it's benefits. That being mobility and agility without restrictions. "But wouldn't zombies grab" yeah yeah yeah that's even assuming the zombies have that high of degree of intelligence to even think of that. Mostly since zombies can't even open doors officially and typically can barely go down stairs them being able to think about grabbing certain things deliberately is even on their minds is typically not a concern. I.E. especially given the only zombie who could even walk down stairs AND open a door was in the first Resident Evil game a bit late in the game. Plus only a horde of zombies were able to burst through windows and doors in the third game. Mini clusters or one typically didn't go anyplace. I guess I'm accepting of both 1.5 and the officially Resident Evil 2 we did get. Outfit discussion aside, I am a bit depressed by the overall direction the series has taken after a point. 4 I didn't mind so much. I enjoyed the first Revelations and kinda enjoy Revelations 2 but 5 and 6, hmmm. I'll play them at some point but can't help but feel the series kinda lost it's old charm and feel. And not just from a gameplay standpoint but a story and character standpoint. Despite being "Mature" games for the violence and settings and such in the end almost anyone could play and enjoy them. It's hard to describe "how" different the newer games feel exactly but they kinda lost a bit of the charm. Might be the fault of them trying to become almost more modern action movie esque. Which wouldn't be a bad thing if it was handled better. It would have been interesting to see where the series would have gone if 1.5 had gone through as is. And maybe it's just me but I do wish Elza Walker could have been used somehow officially and not completely scrapped. Possibly appeared in Resident Evil 3 along Jill? Just an idea. Overall, 1.5 is an interesting spectacle of gaming in how we've been able to look into it and can in truth almost experience it ourselves when it could have been considered lost forever. It's interesting in how these prototypes and alpha stage things get found and distributed.

I like your post. Yeah it was a complete waste that we have never gotten a glimpse of a properly developed relationship between Claire and Chris. They are brother and sister and there could have been many opportunities to have them together. In RE6 for example if the game wasn't so badly setup and written. As for the outfits discussion... I agree we can have a proper combo between iconicism and realism. Claire had her RE2 look made in high-definition for Degeneration, even in that glimpse of a moment. There is a way to combine the two things but CAPCOM just need to figure it out. I imagine Elza has a cult following, so I am certain that Claire will get a racing suit costume based on Elza in Remake2, especially given how many "retro" costumes for Rebecca RE0 remaster has. IIRC, one of the original plot ideas for RE6 was to have each Ada encountered in the series be a different clone. I'd say that the Carla plot is relatively innocuous compared to what they originally wanted to. A horrifyingly bad idea, in my opinion. Yeah it's true we have had biologically-modified creatures but I feel like the inclusion of clones is inspired too much by the movies. It was a bad idea from the get-go to specifically clone Ada Wong of all people who in the whole series has been a behind-the-scenes operator, cunning and silent - not what we got in RE6. I hope that Remake2 will have her as closer to her originally-intended personality and more of a corporate spy rather than a female James Bond. If she is to have gadgets in that game too they have to be made with consideration of the era the game takes place in.

Let's agree that RE6 as a whole has bizarre writing, more so than other RE game. I don't like the game for many reasons. If they truly wanted to go full fan-service, they'd have not included so many new characters. No I don`t agree with that. All RE have bizarre writing in some parts, just take for example the plant enemies from RE 1 and 2. Not only that they are plain, boring and unoriginal, they are scientifically absolute nonsense. The writers show us that they haven't the slightest knowledge of plants, how they work and of what they are made of. Those enemies are pure magic and are nothing near realismus and logic. Cloning Ada is at least theoretically possible. Simmons motives aren't so unbelievable either. Men have done worse for women. I can recall a lot of Myths were men created or let create women made of clay for the same purpose. Or legends about alchemist who create homunculus built after deceased beloved persons. Simmons plot is just one of those old ones, interpreted to our modern world. Again RE 6 is NOT worse written than the other RE and i don`t mind those worse writing, because in the end i like any Resident Evil so far ( not including Gaiden and ORC, because i havent played or watched them, yet.) as long as it don`t get too SciFi or stupid i am fine with some flaws. megamanmodelt101 more of that please. We have so little discussion participants, seeing replies detailed like yours is always nice. biostar yup, it was intended a whole bunch of Adas, all in different colours and the player was supposed to meet everyone just once across the story. It may be more exciting if they had just tease the whole clone thing, so that you can`t be sure if there were any clones at all. Finishing all new story thread`s in the same game was maybe to quick. have you posted this 1.5 stuff on another website. i recall even full Cutscenes, just without Voices in the leaked 1.5 Version. So i wonder if someone made a chronic or something like that about the events we have seen so far, or if there are any subtitles to that Cutscenes. I ask because i tried 1.5 by myself so i think i missed alot and my internet is anno 1992 so it takes years to google something.
