_____Let's talk about packing and unpacking stuff in RE Revelations 2!
Why? This section is kinda empty! I thought about usin' it to store some
perfectly harmless metal barrels of radioactive sludge, but it probably
wouldn't go over too well with the admins when some of y'all end up
lookin' like me! Or your kids do! (And if your kids look like me, maybe
it's for ANOTHER reason....)
_____So, questionably toxic and radioactive waste aside, you wanna
goof around with *.arc files and textures? Dude, you're gonna need
tools. Or more exactly, you're gonna need some of FLUFFYQUACK'S tools:
www.residentevilmodding.boards.net/thread/481/arc-unpacker-repacker-v0-36
Get ARCTOOLS and the CUSTOM *.BAT files for them. Oh, and some of
the *.bat files haven't been customized for noobs. SO, when you get
the *.bat for Revelations 2, EDIT THE CONTENTS TO LOOK LIKE THIS:
arctool -rev2 -texRE6 -alwayscomp -pc -txt -dds -tex -v 7 %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 %7 %8 %9
MAKE SURE the *.arc files you wanna unpack and repack are in the
same directory as Arctools and the automatically generated log files.
_____Well that's just great. What about editing the TEXTURES?
You know? Like changing Wesker's midnight suit into a pair of
fluffy pink pajamas? (Hey, Adversary! Write that down. I might
wanna do that later.) You can use some high-priced shenanigans
like Photoshop and empty yer wallet into their garbage can to get
a program. OR, you could get an open-sourced free program that
you can use for free. Did I mention it was free?

Oh, and see the thread I made earlier about texturing
RE Revelations 2 and stuff.
_____So yeah, that's it. Ya gotta UNPACK ta get at the *.dds
texture files. Then ya gotta edit. And then ya gotta repack.
Course, ya can do a lot more with *.arc files besides just putting
Wesker in a cute lil' pair of pink boots! But that's beyond
noob level. Think I'll go find some adorable textures for
Weshkah now...
