Some people kind of defend it with "But I used the internet when I was young and was fine", but I think the issue there is that the internet was vastly different back then vs. now.
I feel it's a lot more of a hostile, unwelcoming place than it used to be.
I see a lot of young people on tumblr and my first thought is "Absolutely not." Despite the pretty colours and nice people, tumblr can be a manipulative and misinformative place.
I wouldn't even let anyone <18 on tumblr.

WHAT? Are you trying to kick me out? I understand that under 13 shouldn't be on these kind of sites. But really? Can't I socialize with other people? This is a MODDING FORUM, this forum isn't like Twitter or Facebook, even though I not meant to socialize with other people. DarkSamus Says "I'll be leaving you alone mate. " You ain't possibly would change his mind unless if I being too rude etc. If I do get banned what about the cheat table I was working on? I'm sure many people are waiting for the CT, I even understand how frustrated people are with my poor updates. If I get temporally ban until 2 years time, I probably cancel that project temporally and update it regularly on my forum. Those cyber bully doesn't happen with me. I speak with people that are older than me on Steam, and not once I got bullied online, well there was that troll which got banned on steam forums. What I'm trying to say is that let those who not currently being cyber bullied online should socialize with people, have fun while you have a whole lifetime. I even upload videos on YouTube. I never got bullied from their. People who are under my age and getting bullied should know what they should do. I mean schools like mine do these online safety things. Like Privacy on Facebook.

Tumblr has some great stuff such as gifs and fanart and fitness motivation, etc. Then you scroll down and suddenly you find porn. Password protection for certain sites only does so much too. Its certainly going to be one of many issues parents will have to embrace and learn how to handle as technology expands within our lives. @leonlovesada1515 if the moderators are okay with you being on this site, than I am too and no doubt others are too.
Just having a discussion.

But it's like I was being pointed at. For being 13 years old...

But it's like I was being pointed at. Sorry that was not our intention. Me and @commambershep were simply socializing on the complexity and potential issues that may entail with younger generations using the internet and social media. There are always exceptional individuals where general discussions don't apply. DarkSamus already stated that you're good to be on this site. Nobody has any say in the matter unless they are admins or moderators regardless of what any other members may discuss.

To be honest I started on this site when I was 19, I only browsed it before then. My opinion on this? I personally would rather not outright ban someone for simply being to young for the site, I've ran across plenty of members on other sites that range from ages 12 to 15 that are pretty mature and respectful. However in Dody's case this was becoming a frequent issue, he pretty much was not as mature as he should be if he wants to use this kind of site and that is apparently due to his age, he acted his age which In my honest opinion is not suited for the tone of this site and the kind of game we mod, he kept making threads like these residentevilmodding.boards.net/thread/5175/steam-block-account-spend-bucks that showed his age not to mention he kept having run ins with the staff because he simply was not mature enough to understand what we where telling him whether it was him disregarding the signature rule after being told to follow them or him not understanding when we tell him not to make posts that support piracy. The grammar in his posts also shows his age as well and while that is not a big deal by itself it coupled with his other faults may have lead to his ban. Those type of underage members are the type that I feel are best left to not be a part of this site, at least not yet.

I personally consider Tumblr, Facebook, 4Chan, Memecenter, as virtual cancer.
Oh man i miss the time where there was only Nokia 3310 and phone calls. Now internet is a cancer on it's own.
I feel bad.
Edit : For Dody, he was being a kid, wich is normal for him. But we don't need that right here. When i saw how he reacted (posts and everything) it even changed my mind for bad. I was in the edge of notifying an admin.

As long as someone demonstrates maturity in their posts (which is a subjective thing) and is articulate, I don't care what age they are. I joined my first message board at the age of 11. It is my opinion that the cut-off age of 15 is arbitrary, and that judging people based upon the content of their posts individually is the much wiser policy. There is far more to who a person is than how much time he or she has spent alive.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think anyone <13 should be on the internet at all. I agree with this. I think I only used the internet for school related projects at age 13 anyway. Mind you I was born 1990, so at around 2003-2004 there wasn't a whole lot on the internet as there is nowadays. Younger people are generally more sensitive via the internet (Something I too struggle with because I'm usually at home when I surf the web and psychologically home has always been the place of retreat, no barriers, and no BS, etc.) There is already cyber bullying, Steam drama, petty gossip, trolling, hyper sensitivity, unexpected online counseling, unwarranted confidence, extreme intimacy behind anonymity and plenty of miscommunication already on the internet from what I've experienced in my life. Social Media and cellphones/texting is having its affect on people of all ages, in how we interact and form relationships and go about our daily lives. In what way? we ask. that has yet to be determined. No doubt age demographics play a role in this. It may be better or for worse. Yeah me too.I agree with this, well as an example, now elementary students in my country was affected by the "2013 Curricullum",so their assignment usually should be "typed" in a paper, and some informations were not included in their books,so they have to surf the net to find some more knowledges. Well the simple words are "e-learning".But,kids may access the internet with some attention provided by their parents,of course.Don't you think so?

Well the simple words are "e-learning".But,kids may access the internet with some attention provided by their parents,of course.Don't you think so? I don't any issues with schools encouraging use of the internet for research skills and citing sources in the proper citation styles. I think there are some vital skills to be learned with internet in the right context, At my own high school I only recall them spending one day on that really and even then I learned most of it from a 2nd year university class in my first year. (The HARD WAY). I was more so referring to the general issues associated with internet and social media, which affects everyone of all ages in terms of social skills and how they process data. (I was making inside jokes because I've experienced all sorts of unwarranted wackiness via the internet as ΛLISTΞR and IrishLumberjack know when I've confided in them.) I find that younger people, generally but not always, are not as emotionally and cognitively developed compared to older people, which can contribute to some of the problems people may experience on the internet and social media. Again there are exceptions and there is nothing wrong with people being at the mentality of their physical age. (Who defines that exactly?) I've also met some very childish seniors. Parenting is a whole other ball game and to be honest I think it's really up to parents if they want to be attentive of their children's internet activities. My own parents were very trusting and gave me a great deal of freedom as I grew up out of the teen years. They are also not at all tech savy so that maybe was most defiantly a reason. I can only hope that I am as trusting as they've been if I potentially have kids. I'm still very immature for 24.
