Hello, I'm pretty late to the game, but after seeing some of the cool mods online (particularly being able to play the whole campaign as Jill) I finally got RE5 for PC. I made my first attempt to play around with changing textures in the game by trying to give Warrior Chris a light bit of chest & ab hair. I used Gimp 2.8 & exported the texture as a DXT1 .DDS (picture HERE of the export options used). The texture shows up in the game, however there are some VERY odd lighting issues going on. Any shadow whatsoever causes his torso (the only texture I altered) to become black & blocky. However, when Chris steps under abundant lighting (like an outdoor environment) more of the "true" texture shows through, but still has odd pitch black "blocks". I've worked with DDS files before (I used to mod for Marvel Ultimate Alliance), but I've never experienced these kinds of issues before. The only texture I modified was the pl0e00_01body_BM.dds file & I exported it as a DXT1 through Gimp 2.8's DDS plug-in. I tried another test by making Jill's ponytail blonde for one of her costumes (this time exporting as DXT5, per instructions in a tutorial). Once in-game her ponytail appeared to be transparent Mip Maps aren't enabled (should they be?) & there aren't any additional layers or alpha channels going on. All in-game settings for textures, etc are set to "High." Any ideas what could be causing this?
