Hello!
My name is Wast, and first things first I'm German which means my English is pretty bad.
I thought it was about time to get an account, thinking of all the mods I downloaded years ago for Resident Evil 4.
I encountered modding with the game Quake 2, my first work was a little UI texture editing, most things I worked on were for myself, just released a few edits for Fallout New Vegas and Skyrim on Nexus, also I'm just a little familiar with texture editing and blender modelling (not modelling from scratch, just edit things to my taste or did bodytype conversions). Also I did some Script edits for Doom3 and Skyrim, but it was more try and error than 'I know what I'm doing'.
Now I haven't modded for almost 2 years, because of less time caused by a bad game called real life. Maybe I start again, not sure, I will see.
My thoughts about the Resident Evil franchise:
Back in 1996 as Resident Evil 1 was released in Germany I was 16 years old. I read a lot about this game, saw the intro movie running on a ps1 in the shopwindow of the local video game store. 16, favorite movie genre was horror, the game was actually released (strange censorship in Germany), it was just awesome!
Resident Evil 2 was banned and Resident Evil 3 was cut down (for the German market) to something which was just annoying.
As I saw first previews about Resident Evil 4 I just thought 'damn, this runs on GameCube? it looks awesome!' and it was the reason I bought a Gamecube. Still today I think part 4 is one of the greatest games I played, even with its flaws.
On the GameCube I also played Resident Evil 2 & 3 (uncut import versions) and of course the great Resident Evil Zero.
Resident Evil 5 is one of the best Coop games imo, sure ambient and gameplay is a lot different, but I liked it.
Resident Evil 6... the Leon and Ada campaigns are great, but generally I think the game has massive gameplay flaws, played it coop too, but wasn't as much fun as Resident Evil 5.
Resident Evil Revelation 1 & 2, great games, great gameplay, the storytelling of Revelations 2 is awesome, cannot wait for the last episode.
Now I bought Operation Raccoon City too (Steam version), and even with its gameplay flaws I think the game is a great fan service, walking through the sceneries of the old trilogy is really fun. Sadly the GamesForWindows is a pain, and I don't know why but sometimes the game refuses to start. Now I use a xlive emulator and everything works fine (but just offline). Would love to play the game coop...
Well, damn, yeah, call me Master of Wall of Text...
