I decided to get it for the N64 since I managed to find a copy that was complete in box, with manual. Out of curiosity, how many of you own it for the N64, and out of those, how many of you would recommend me picking up the expansion pak for it? I've played through the first 20 minutes of gameplay and it seems to look fine to me so far. Would shelling out an extra 30$ improve the quality drastically enough to justify purchasing one?

From memory the ram pack mostly just makes cutscenes play in a higher quality.
I could be wrong though.

From what I understand the FMV's are compressed down to 240p and won't play at anything higher than that even with the expansion pak due to the space limitations of an N64 cartridge. Apparently it's supposed to up the resolution of the gameplay from 480p to 640p and improve the quality of textures on screen. But as I haven't seen any comparison shots around the internet I can't make that judgement.

I never really took to much notice because I imported the USA Dual Shock PS1 version instead.

The only reason I wanted the N64 version over the PS1 version is because I never really liked the texture warping issues that the PS1 had, and the N64 most definitely had smoother polies (though the backgrounds suffered quite a bit due to the texture compression.) Though I'm definitely going to try and get my hands on 1 and 3 for the PS1. Now I just need to find myself an old PS fat because I reaaaaaaly don't like the design of my PSone....

I have RE2 for the N64, PS1 and PC. Overall, I actually prefer the N64 version because the loading times are a lot faster. There are also extra files to find (from RE3 and RE0 I believe).
I have the expansion pack, but I didn't notice any difference to the game; graphically, you won't get much out of it anyway.
