Hello,
I would like to kindly request assistance in creating a small mod for the community. The purpose of this mod is to replace the sounds when picking up story items and jewels, such as diamonds. As you may know, in the classic Resident Evil 4, when collecting a story item, the sound produced can be described as "frightening," while the sound for picking up jewels and diamonds is more "friendly." I would like to bring these classic sounds into the Resident Evil 4 Remake without needing to activate the original soundtrack, which replaces the entire game's music. I would like to play the game with the Remake's soundtrack, but with these classic sounds, without having to swap out the entire soundtrack just to hear them during gameplay.
An advantage of this mod is that, in addition to bringing the classic sounds to the Remake, it adds variety to the RE4 Remake sounds, as the remake uses the same sound for both story items and jewels. So, by creating this small mod, you will be adding more diversity to the RE4 Remake's sounds while also incorporating a classic element into the game.
Technical information about the mod:
I have already completed 40% of the work. Last year, when I was more familiar with this type of modding, I extracted the original files from the RE4 Remake and isolated the two sounds I wanted to replace, named 039.wem and 192.wem. Now, the task is to replace these two .wem files with the generic sounds mentioned earlier. The files 039.wem and 192.wem are already prepared; they just need to be added and replaced over the generic files. In the .rar file I provided, I've included examples of the sounds so you can know exactly which sounds I'm referring to. Note: The .wav files included are purely for reference purposes, to give an idea of what the sounds will be like once replaced, but the actual replacement should be done using the provided .wem files.
Important Note:
The final file that I believe the game will read once the mod is completed is called "ch_ui_ingame_media.sbnk.1.X64." However, after replacing the .wem files within this file myself, when entering the game, I still hear the original generic sounds instead of the modified ones. I believe I may be missing something; perhaps, after an update, the developers changed the folder and file structure, and "ch_ui_ingame_media.sbnk.1.X64" might now have a different name. Or, the .wem files, labeled as 039.wem and 192.wem, might be recognized by a different numbering. This is just a theory to consider if no other alternative is found.
This request is aimed at advanced users who are already familiar with modding, but if you would like to venture into sound modding, I’ll include a tutorial below along with the download link for the file to be modified. Note: .wem files are ready.
Thank you in advance to anyone who can complete this mod and make it available to the community!
