G18 DLCs Restoration
A mod that (somewhat) restores the little-known, Japan/Console Exclusive G18 DLC by replacing the Handgun MPM with the G18 variant of your choice.
Those DLCs were only released on consoles but not on PC, and only in Japan. They were pre-order bonuses and depending on which store you bought the game from, you would get a different variant, there's 5 in total:
- G18 Original - Just a typical, black-finish Glock 18. Available from multiple retailers.
- G18 GEO - Features the GEO Amusement Developer logo. GEO stores exclusive.
- G18 Type-T - Features a blue and yellow paint job. GameTSUTAYA stores exclusive.
- G18 Candiru - Features a snake-skin paint job. Amazon Japan exclusive.
- G18 Jessica Ver.2 - A replica of Jessica's custom G18 from Revelations 1. E-Capcom exclusive.
Each variant also came with special parts, and much like the weapons themselves they were never released on PC at all.
I'd love to restore those DLCs "for real", but alas I don't think it's possible at all and it most likely wouldn't work when online.
Instead, this mod will replace the Handgun MPM model, textures, sounds, name & icon in the menu with the G18 variant of your choice. Please note that the MPM's stats are not altered, and you will not get access to the exclusive parts. In other words, this is a cosmetic mod.
Also, note that those DLC were shipped with a half-broken rig. This led to an incorrect hand position and the magazine was protruding out of the gun. To fix this issue, I had to move the vertices - that fixes the hand position and the mag is where it should be, but the preview in the menus will look a bit off.
Here goes a ramble and more info about those DLCs...
Believe it or not but this mod was A LOT of work.
I found out about those DLCs by digging through the game's files. You can still find videos of those DLCs on the official French Biohazard Youtube Channel, leading me to believe they were planned to be released at some point. They all featured unique customization parts and those aren't accessible through normal means too.
I am 100% sure that none of the DLCs were ever available on PC, but I'm unsure if they were available out of Japan on consoles.
What's more - they shipped those DLCs with a broken rig! The guns come from Rev 1 and are a straight port - they didn't even alter the rig to fit their new animations or anything. The gun was seating in a weird position in the hands, and the mag was protruding out of the gun frame - especially noticeable in cutscenes. The first release of this mod had this issue, though nobody seemed to notice, and it really annoyed me. I tried everything only to realize that it was just shipped like that... Just moving the vertices, which isn't ideal, did the trick though.
If you're astute, you may know that some people managed to trick the game using Cheat Engine to access the G18s & the parts - but that would crash the game. This is why I went with a replacer mod and didn't try to actually add them back into the game. It checks which content you have a license for at startup, so I'm pretty sure that we wouldn't be able to trick the master server anyways.
I actually asked some more knowledgeable people about this, and yeah - they can't be restored. It would be extremely buggy, and would result in a RE.NET ban because those weapons & parts were never released on PC, thus RE.NET would register them as a cheating attempt.
