Sorry but if you intend to do a "remaster" relying completely on AI for it, and don't even know how to deal with alpha, you shouldn't be doing it. When you transform an image into PNG and, on top of that, have an AI process it, it is very likely that the alpha will be damaged, hence the artifacts.
There's no such thing as an "automatic process" because doing it in photoshop is more demanding and time-consuming, I'm sure Albert wouldn't be proud reading this, 8 years of development says for itself.

i think the artifact problem in the alpha is a corrupted dds when exported, this occurs to me a lot of times. and i had to find a tip to deal with it about the enhancements of the texture using a.i. why u dont keep the default alpha by simple overlaying your enhanced upscaled texture and save it. ofcoursse the best bet would bbe create a better alpha, but this is not a bad tip after all.

Instead of wasting your time writing an entire page, use this as a reason to finish your project and not be just another person who claims doing a remaster and stops halfway through for X and Y reasons, which I've been here long enough to see this happens more than once. I wish you luck.
