Hi, i hope i get help from any modder here.
Recently i made a character mod. this time i port a Daz model, make my way into .smd model file etc etc.
but in the final result into the game, the model does not have any texture in it despite all my effort to make the texture works.
model has 25k polygon, which is finally work in the game after initially game keep crashes on 40k ~ 32k polygon (idk why i mention this but just for the reference), the textures are not loaded.
what's funny is, my character mod for ashley has 38k polygon and everything is WORKING! but it is not come from Daz model. i also replace one of the enemy (em10) with model has 28k polygon, it also works fine.
attempt on the image texture :
1. tried to flip the texture on the PMD-SMD tool, still not working
2. resize down into 512p, still not working (initially 4k).
3. idk wat else to do, it never happens before
model is one object built with 4 material group with 4 different textures (torso, arm, legs, outfit/clothes/whatever). and UV map was out of bound except for the outfit. but my previous mods never fails with this kind of UVs. Daz model is really weird that each part (torso, arm, leg) has full resolution lining up to the right (the UV not overlapping), unlike most of 3d model has UV inside the box (or island), all three parts are outside but lining up to the right, divided into four material group.
textures are tga 32bit (uncompressed), i have tried all the way down to 16 bit (there was no 8 bit option).
although it does not have alpha channel, i keep it 32bit, but doesnt matter now because nothing is works anyway.
summary:
*Mods are working, just the textures not loaded. 25k polygon. works fine, but no texture. my character for ashley pl0100 even has 38k polygon and it works (maybe 35k, idk i forgot, i'll check later)
*i use PaintDotNet to convert textures to .tga files. it always works on my previous mod.
*i never publish my mod in any forum or website, i did them for fun.
*16, 24, 32 bit all not working (they also never compressed)
*i have tried any possible image size from 512p to 4k, still not loaded. i even keep exporting back from milkshape with each new texture applied and still no luck.
*exported with milkshape 1.8.4. version 1.8.5 does not work to import anything.
*i did everything from Blender (Daz, Duf, some ppl might not familiar with this), exported for milkshape, and finally smd-pmd convert.
*i use same method from all my previous mod (they are never published, it's for fun).
*i suspect the weird UV map from the model itself, i will do it this sunday. but first, maybe i did something wrong or things i haven't do before i doing that kinda work.
*note that polygon i meant is the triangles not the quads. i'm quite know some basic modeling.
