Hi all, I am trying to replace Rebecca r_16.sngw (she commands partner "Go") (in the folder nativePC_MT\sound\bgm_dc\oto) with one of my x.wav file. So I deleted the original r_16.sngw, converted my wav file into ogg file, and put my .ogg file into the folder, and changing it name into r_16.sngw. But RE5 won't play it. Can someone tell me what is the problem? I tried to load my .ogg file and the original r_16.sngw into Audacity to compare, my file is shorter, but still has the same properties (48000 Hz,mono channel, 32 bit).
I swapped Rebecca r_22.sngw "I can't right now" into r_16, and she can say perfectly "I can't right" when I push Up+B buttons. SO I think file size is not the problem here.

Hiya! For editing speech you need to make sure you have the right information and then edit the game so it can pull the voice files and play them correctly. Right now she's getting cut off or it's not playing at all because the game doesn't have the right information regarding that file. I'll try to be as simple and concise as I can. There may be other ways to do this but here is how I learned, it's a bit complicated: - First make a copy of Rebecca's .ARC file (I just add "- default" to the end of it) and extract Rebecca's .ARC file (within root folder Resident Evil 5>nativePC_MT>Image>Archive> hers I believe is upl07RebeccaNormal.arc) using the ARC tool (https://residentevilmodding.boards.net/thread/481/arc-unpacker-repacker-v0-428)
- Locate her STQ file (upl07RebeccaNormal>sound>bgm>emo_07_r.STQ) something like that. Make a copy, can be within here or elsewhere, I usually just add to the file "- default". Make sure to make a copy with the default name which will be the one we edit.
- Open your voice line file and observe the file size in bytes and duration in samples (I use foobar www.foobar2000.org/)
- Using STQ editor (https://residentevilmodding.boards.net/thread/13998/resident-evil-stq-editor) open Rebecca's STQ file and locate the sngw number within the line where the voice file is pulled (they won't match the "file number" to the left because the lines start with 06)
- Adjust the file size number and duration number, click save, and then save over the .STQ. Repack the .ARC using the .ARC
- Repack Rebecca's ARC using ARC tool and paste into Resident Evil 5>nativePC_MT>Image>Archive>
