Hi there, guys.I've seen some mods with handgun's silencer included, but I didn't find a tutorial on how to make it work, so I'm gonna teach you right now.**This was made for PS2 modding, but it also works with 2007 version**Special credits goes to 3getu841 with his amazing discovery, be sure to check it here First of all we need to extract both ss_pzzl.dat and omk_pzzl.dat files.They are responsible for inventory models and textures.If you don't have the extraction tools, you can download them here Open up the folders and go to file number 126, you'll notice they are different from each folder.
ss_pzzl = Leon's story mode inventory omk_pzzl = mercenaries/ada's inventory
Using the Mr.Curious Bin List we know that 126 is the Silencer file followed by its respective texture just below it. So now all we need to do is copy the omk_pzzl_126.BIN & omk_pzzl_127.TPL and replace+rename them in the ss_pzzl folder, just like this:
You can delete both DMY files or rename them to anything you want. DMY = Dummy, null files with 0 bytes
The last step we need to do is open up the ss_pzzl.idx file and rename the files with the correct extensions .BIN & .TPL we just added, so the tool will recognize them:
After that, just repack the files and insert them back at the game. And be sure to try it out:

FAQ:
Q - Have you discovered this all by yourself? A - No. I've learned everything here and here, then I decided to create a specific tutorial for Silencer only.
Q - I did all the steps but the Silencer didn't appeared in my inventory, why? A - The silencer isn't included in story mode, so you need to add it manually in the .ITA file, or with Cheat Engine.
Q - This works with other weapons like Ada's shotgun and Hunk's TMP? A - Yes. The game will no longer crash when you open the inventory.
Q - This works for SLUS and SLES versions? A - Yes. Works in any version.
Q - How can I add the silencer item in-game? A - You can learn how over here.
Q - This works if I decide to put silencer as an obtainable item in-game? A - Yes. You're just gonna need to edit the .ITA file to add the silencer.
Q - Can I equip this silencer with other weapons? A - Unfortunately no, it will only work with the first Handgun.

hy there, how did you manage to import ss_pzzl.dat files after you rebuild ? since size file changed after repack. in my case the original file is 871 kb and after i repack it, it become 877 kb. so the afsexplorer wont import it. so i tried to delete one of bin file ( black bass 2 bin ) and rebuild again and import it and it works, to test it out i try on pcxs2 and the games run, you can check your inventory, even though while i want to collect it in the game the silencer invincible just white glowing shine without model.

Ooh hi there, for me to reimport the bigger ss_pzzl.dat file I had to do the same thing as you, just delete any item you think you won't need to colect through the game. But if you don't want to do this to every single new item you add, you can try to expand the ss_pzzl.dat file using the Modify Reserved Space option in AFSExplorer and rebuild the whole AFS. Make sure to create a backup first, as doing this is very risky to some files, I have yet not tested with this one, but maybe it works. About you not seeing the Silencer 3D model on the room, you can fix that by using the same .bin & .tpl from the ss_pzzl and put them on the ITM file.

for the modify the afs file ,i try it like you say i rebuild it and works but when i import it to iso the apache program wont imported/update it since file size changed too. maybe we should giving up about that because of the limitation.
okay for 3d model silencer in the game. i never done this before can you show me how ?

Well, for every item you add in the .ita file, you should also insert its correspondent model and texture in the .itm file. As I understood, you already inserted the silencer at the .ita file, so for it to appear the 3D model and texture in the room you need to extract this file below, which is responsible for items textures: You can use Son of Persia's tools to extract the ITM file. not working, i dont understand i just did like you did but i my case i use r100.dat. to more precise i add the silencer in the second floor on the first house when you play for the first time, there is table right there with handgun ammo in the original file so changed that ammo to silencer. how about .idx file should we edit it like your mention above ? or should i edit r117.dat just like you.

Well, if for some reason your .idx is not automatically updated, you can try to edit it manually and see if this solves the problem. r100 means the first room of the game, r117 is the church room. So in your case you should edit the ITM file present at r100. If the problem persists, please send me your r100.dat so I can analyze it.

so yeah i just remember something, a few days ago i just saw someone video on youtube about adding silencer on re4 ps2 version too but the difference is that silencer already in his case. if you playing from the start, as you can see leon in his case has handgun, ammo and first aid, but in his case the ammo position is silencer, which mean he edited some file right ?
do you know about this ?

That's okay, you can ask anytime. For this to be achieved, you need to edit the executable file of the .iso, or the whole .iso itself, since the exe will be inside. Open it with HxD, press CTRL + G, type A63F0 and click on OK, then you can edit these offsets: You can see a complete list of the items over here. I have not messed with many of these other bytes yet, but these marked ones are correct, so you can change them to whatever item you want to start the game with.

hy there its me again, here's my update. so i just added code for the silencer in .idx and repack it but afs explorer wont import it since the limitation and size file changed, so i just rename one of that code in and voila the 3d model showed up in the game but i'am not test in real hardware yet.
and for about open iso file to hxd, the code you just give me, it give wrong adress, it not like yours,its difference, maybe because i'am using the USA version. i tried to find it but no luck, can you help with this maybe this is my final request.

This limitation is a pain in the #$%, isn't it? But I can give you a tip: almost every room has Ada's shotgun which is located behind the walls and Leon can't use it. Its id is itm047 (0x47), so you can remove it from the .idx of the ITM and free up to 23kb.There ya go, offset A6280I am sure we can move the items through the case using some of these bytes, I have not tested it, but you can give it a try if you want to.
