Something like a billion years ago I stumbled upon some nice guide in the Steam discussions of Rev1, which explained how to fix the weird brightness of PC version of the game without changing anything other than just that. Since I failed to find that precise guide and never ever encountered anything of sorts, I'm posting it here.
It was made for Rev1, but turns out that config compliments Rev2 quite a bit to the point I refuse to use no film grain mod anymore - it just doesn't feel like a nuisance anymore, but side-effects of the No-Film Grain fix always did for me.
SHOULDN'T BE ANY PERFORMANCE HIT WHATSOEVER! (If there is, set USE_SMAA_ANTIALIASING 1 to 0 in the sweetfx_settings.txt)
Instructions: Just extract the thing to the same folder where your rerev2.exe is resting comfortably. Toogle button is PrtSc.
(The pack includes some changes to the usual sweetFX pack, so it's not only Settings.txt you need to keep).
Update: Found the source I referred to:
Comparison shots: Vanilla X-Box 360 Gamma I used for my pack
