Hi everyone,
I would like to share this simple mod that I made in order to balance Rachel and most of all Rachel ooze. Here is what the mod does
Rachel:
- removed the 25% dodge time penalty.
- damage taken from enemis goes from +12% to -10%.
- added machinegun mastery 1 (+30% reload speed, +15% fire rate)
- health regeneration is now 3 times faster
- Increased Taijutsu (melee charged attack) damage by 100%.
Motivation: Rachel was a very underwhelming character. Her abilities were just decent but she had way too many penalties, and the regeneration was way too slow, even for stages like ghost ship. I think she needed a new grade of mastery so I added machinegun 1 since she already has masteries in two good DPS weapons (magnum and shotgun). Machineguns are amazing support weapons and they are great for ghost ship. Also I removed the penalty for dodgind 'cause I don't see why she needs to be nerfed even more. I gave her some damage reduction becouse of the way regeneration works (slower when your health is high). A lot of times, while being almost at full file, you are forced to use an herb becouse strong enemies (kings expecially) can one-hit kill you, and this makes regeneration kinda bad. With a little bit of damage reduction this problem isn't that big.
Rachel ooze:

- damage taken from enemis goes from +21% to -30%.
- removed all the weapons and granades penalties.
- regeneration is 66% faster.
- Taijutsu damage goes from +90% to +250%.
- "knife" (i.e. arm) damage goes from +60% to +200%
- knife attack speed goes from -30% to + 40%.
Motivation: Rachel ooze was just a meme, she has never been a good character. No weapons proficiencies and tons of penalties. She was also terrible as a melee character since her physical attacks were the slowest in the game. On top of everything, she had good regeneration but she took +21% damage from enemies!!
Now Rachel is a tank, her higher regeneration combined with damage reduction allow her to survive difficult situations and to fight in melee combat. Taijutsu damage is very high and can take out strong enemies but it is also very slow, she is the only character in the game that can perform only 1 charged move after throwing a flash granade. Her melee attack (arm attack) was really a joke, 'cause while being stronger it was too slow and she was outclassed by many other characters in terms of DPS. So, now I increased the damage and the attack speed too. I tested her in abyss mode and she can play as melee right now. After all, with a character like this, without any weapon proficiency, if the melee option isn't good, the character itself is completely useless. She can be a little bit too powerful in chasm and trench mode but she seems ok in abyss mode and she is definitely great in the ghost ship!
