Greetings Modders! It is with great pleasure & satisfaction that I bring to you the culmination of efforts by many to finally explain how to properly mod sound in RE4UHD. With the new tool by MarioKart64n we have the world at our fingertips! Thanks to MarioKart64n, we now have a working tool !
What new things can we do with this tool? - extract XSB files, which will automatically save to a .xap (XACT Audio Project) that we can edit at will, and rebuild into a new .xsb file. - extract XWB files without losing loop points. - extract .SND files and edit in .xml
What will we learn in this tutorial? In this tutorial we will learn how the various sound files work in tandem, but primarily we will be focusing on how to extract and rebuild XSB, XWB, and SND files.
New formatting for tutorials I have explored presenting my latest tutorials using Google Docs, which provide a lot more functionality than simply posting the tuts here, or PDFs made with Wordpad. The new format allows for a Table of Contents with links which will allow users to navigate the documents more easily. Also there is the option to download the document in a variety of formats.
Please visit the link below to view or download the tutorial.
Please visit the link below to download the Re4Util Tool *NOTE ABOUT THIS TOOL* This file will normally be flagged by Windows Security as being a virus, but this is a false positive. MarioKart has explained why this happens in his recent video, and has also published the source code for anyone to check out on his GitHub account.
A full directory of online tutorials can be viewed or downloaded HERE
In the video above it is mentioned that there will be 'Master' Cue files list that will include the 'sit count' entry data for all known types. You can view or download the Master Cue List HERE.
Mr.Curious 8-2022 Happy Modding!

Thank you for your tutorial. It's detail and useful.
I really should read it first before asking.

This tutorial was really good. Thank you for making it. I managed to edit some weapon sounds which I've been dying to do. Quick question is the snd folder documented anywhere? I also wanted to try and edit some of leon and ashleys lines and the sounds they make as they get hit or die? Is there any post anyone can refer me to

title.xwb - menu sounds (start game sound etc). wepxx.xwb - weapon sounds Happy Modding!

Oooh thats awesome. Thank you very much for the explanation.
Yeah I was wondering if anyone ever got around to naming each individual .wav in each .xwb but I only found bgm list in a few other posts.

each enemy ID have like 200+ sounds, bio4evt (cutscenes, radio, events in general) have near 250 entries, and i'm not even beginning to count the snd/room folder or snd/foot folder, which both contains another set of .xwb for each individual room... documenting this would not only be a pain to do but the result would be so incredibly big to the point where no one would benefit from it

Trying to describe different sounds with language is also very nuanced and gets quite redundant. I found its simply better to extract audio files and make playlists.

Okay haha. I may end up doing some lists for my own purposes but I can definitely understand after extracting more files right now how long and arduous it would take
I kinda did assume it was too much to ask but I wanted to out of seer curiosity. Thanks for letting me know

i've tried to edit bgm.xwb with xact and after exporting ( bgm wave bank ) an xwb file appeared called bgm.xwb i renamed it to bio4bgm.xwb and pasting it in snd file and then i tried to open the game but , the game is appeared in the taskbar only ( i cant do anything ) so i closed the game
and i tried to import the original bio4bgm to xact tool ( v3.0 ) and i named the wave bank => ( bgm ) without editing any file . i selected Build and finish and renamed bgm.xwb to bio4bgm.xwb and pasted it to the game and started the game , unfortunately same problem the game is not working
any solution .. ?

Hmmm. It sounds like you did things correctly. Under 'General' settings (left hand side under the wavebanks area), was it set to In Memory or Streaming? Also did you try putting the original file back in the Snd directory and seeing if the game would launch?

Well thanks for explaining things, but I have no other suggestions for you. Perhaps go over the tutorial again step by step to see if you missed anything. It looks like everything you did was done correctly, so I am not sure what else I can say.
Good Luck !
