It's been on the Nexus for just one day over a month now, but I thought it good to open a thread over here on the RE Modding Boards. If anyone has any feedback, questions, or suggestions, I'll check back here from time to time. I've tested the script off and on throughout the month, adding and tweaking things, and it's pretty much where I want it to be (within reason haha).
Here's the scripts Nexus page:
Here's a mediafire link for version 1.13 for anyone that doesn't want to create a nexus login:
If ZOMBIΞALI or alphaZomega reads this, I just want to say thank you again. If y'all didn't make those models over a month ago, I would've never had the interest to get this script where it is now.

Really great work on this script man. I know this is something that a lot of people have wanted for a LONG time now, so well done for finally pulling it off

@ C.O.G.S. I've never done an assembly coding project like this before (kinda an amateur), so to tell the truth I got as much enjoyment outta learning from creating it as anybody else might using it. Really half the credit can go to the game being designed having mostly working animations already (barring a couple spots of jank).
@ zombiΞALI Because some instructions look for very specific things and I don't usually upload experiments in games I try, at the beginning I was worried that it work fine on my pc, but somehow fail on others. Thankfully, from what youtube videos I've seen, I haven't seen differing behavior.

TL:DR RE7 and RE8 being in FP is done really well and I mostly asked for this stuff for people who can't play RE7 in FP and I am excited for RE8.
Thanks for making this mod a reality I must say again that I really appreciate how You,ZombieAli and alphaZomega have not only made a mod for people who prefer TP over FP but also for people who unfortunately can't play RE7 in FP due to motion sickness. Granted a good gaming pc is required to use this mod and RE7 technically wasn't made for third person but this is still really cool. Having played RE7 in FP,VR and TP I honestly think that TP can work really well with RE7. I know some people use the camera clipping through the wall as proof for why RE7 can never work in TP but even RE2 remake has the camera move around at certain parts of the game so it doesn't clip through the wall like the main RPD hall or the first battle with Birkin. So I don't think it's too crazy to think that an official TP mode can be possible in RE7.
With that being said I am excited for RE8 I know everything I am saying probably sounds like I am someone that thinks third person RE should be the only RE but I actually don't mind RE in FP. Most of the post I have made here asking for these mods is mostly because I see how some people want to enjoy RE7 but can't because of motion sickness and because it is interesting to see what could of been if it was in TP.
If Capcom releases a demo of RE8 for pc it would be really cool to see if it is possible to do a TP mod for that too. I wonder how close to RE4 it would feel in TP?

@ blizzardfish Thanks again for bringing up that first video here on this site and the testing you helped with. The video was just a quick what-if (I already knew how to do a basic lua flycam and it was just a slight twist on the implementation), but seeing that first model mod made excited enough to do a lot more experimentation and cleaning up.
For stuff like the camera clipping, I just don't believe I'm experienced enough at debugging to work out a 100% reliable method to do so. It's very likely to be able to be done, but I just felt it much easier to leave its control completely in the player's hands. I've tried to cover them best as possible, but they're are many "shortcuts" taken in the script to force the result I wanted.
An example is third-person shooting. As seen with early versions of the script, simply moving the camera does nothing to the gun's aim. Ethan will still shoot in-front of himself no matter where it's moved to. I later found a higher level instruction that controls the gun's aim as well the camera. This would be great but the problem now was that manipulation of this instruction to control the camera introduced noticeable hitching. Eventually I came to the compromise that the higher instruction is only messed with when the game detects the fire button being pressed and the lower instruction was used at all other times. Thus you get true accuracy for the fraction of a second you fire and no hitching at any other time.
I have no doubt that someone with better "digging" and coding experience would produce a much better end result with cleaner implementation. For me, it was just for the fun of it, but yeah, I would love it if someone someday used what I made and took it further.
Regarding the comments about TP's viability in RE7. I must admit, it's not a great feeling when someone judges how the game would be in third-person solely based on my near-novice scripting. In the end, I just made it for fun and not to prove any kind of point. I'm glad however for the peeps who can get more enjoyment out of game from it than they otherwise would.
I'm excited for RE8 as well. I know the first person turns some away, but I dunno, I just feel like it's part and parcel of this section of the RE franchise. Fixed camera angles in 1-3, OTS in 4-6, and now FPS in 7+. Who knows, it might change into RTS after 9 haha.
I'll probably poke around with RE8 later, but I must say it's so much nicer to do stuff like this with a game that doesn't update and possibly change all kinds of things with zero notice. If it's popular, I think someone who knows better what they are doing will have a crack at it.

I'm glad that I was able to help even if it was just in little things like mentioning this mod. And no worries you have done more than enough for this mod I most certainly can't do anything like this. I honestly never thought there would be any interest in doing a third person RE7 mod so having a script like this is great.
Somehow I could see some form of a strategy game happening for RE especially as a mobile gacha game like metal slug attack that would be funny.

For some reason, I can’t get the third-person script to work with my game. I’ve read that I have to update the game possibly; it’s a cracked copy, so is that a problem? And can it be fixed?

There's a video tutorial in the videos section of the nexus page which goes over step-by-step installation.
Not trying to be rude, but most vague "It won't work" posts usually don't tell me if I can be of further help. Stating the exact point of failure like "Ticking the Manual Camera box does nothing" or "Cheat Engine fails to install" will give a better picture of the issue for a relevant answer. There's also a few tips under "Troubleshooting" on the nexus page for common issues.

Just a quick notice. Since the ray tracing update has changed the file structure of RE7, I've uploaded a barebones version of the script under the Misc. files on the nexus in case any future model mods need to be tested. It doesn't have a culling fix atm (player character's body has higher rendering priority than anything else) but I can fix that as soon as I can get a head mod to test with.
