I like the Ink Ribbon saving and autosave off, but I don't feel like ripping my hair our on HARD.
An alternative could be is to just increase the damage the player can take on the HARD difficulty(or lower the damage the enemies deal)

I was thinking about that since the game launched, but never asked here because I forgot. But there is something you can do for a while, there is a cheat engine table somewhere that change adaptive difficulty which in hardest is always 8 to 9, while in normal it starts at 4 or 5. You can use this cheat to lock difficulty in lower levels. Also there is another trainer with a lot of good cheats like undead cheat (you can loose health until danger but can't die) and damage modifier (which you can multiply for 2 to become next to normal difficulty or 3 for Assisted) Unfortunately, neither of these cheats change enemies damage (maybe the adaptive difficulty does but I never tested this one), and also doesn't let you use auto aim.
