{ingame screens} Hiya! Trying out re2 model importing for the first time. I've been following toraneko's very helpful tutorial and I'm getting some pesky bugs. Basically there's some patches in the imported model where the normals are/look inverted(?) in some angles. Normally tho, they look kinda ok but in some angles the patches look really obvious. I redid it again a 2nd time and even tried a 3rd time with a flat normal map to see if its the model that's bugging out, but with a flat normalmap it didn't have any of the weird patches so I'm assuming its something to do with the textures. I tried tora's method of inverting the Green channel too but it produces the same result. {BUGS. these are the same models, just different angles} The model and textures were directly from RE6, not Xnalara, altho I edited it a little bit to match Leon's new body shape. Im using Zombieali's black and white atos, wetmask, etc. texs from Rev2 Claire in those pics too (since I dont know how to convert those texs yet, sorry). Haven't seen much info/tutorials about the new textures too so I'm probably doing something wrong with them. Anyways sorry if these bugs been posted before. As always any info/help is appreciated

Looks really good even with the bugs. I hope you work it all out. Are you gonna make the textures nicer?

ikyriousi unfortunately Im not that good at making textures from scratch so probably not the top and vest textures look pretty decent imo, but the pants textures are kinda horrendous. I made the model a bit more hipoly tho so maybe in the future someone else can re-do the textures (if they wish). {Model edits} noonbob Thanks chris33451 maybe in the future. Im still learning how to mod RE2

That's crazy. You have a far better eye than I do. The "bugs" look very, very minor to me.

Hey Arch!
I've run into a similar issue with a mod I worked on. The problem might not be with the textures at all. It could be the mesh itself thats the problem.
If u want to verify this, you can do a quick test by swapping out the main texture trio (nrmr, atos, almb) with something else and you will see that those hard edges will still be in the same place. If you do confirm that this is indeed the problem, you might be able to fix it with 3DS max's edit normal modifier as seen here:
But be warned!
I learned to blindly just include the edit normal modifier blindly during my own attempts, and it made things worse depending on the mesh that you are working on. Case in point: I used and re-modified the sheriff's belt = giving it an edit normal with basic settings made it rounded and shiny. Reason being: since the mesh was already made before hand, and not a fresh creation out of something like say z-brush, the mesh's normals were already edited beforehand, and giving it another edit normal modifier caused the issue, so i had to remove it on mine.
Please experiment with the modifier on your mesh see if it works with or without it.
Best of luck!

themimegogo forgot to mention, those models do already have the Edit Normal modifier (averaged at 0.01) when exported. I once tested with a flat normal map and the patches somehow didnt show up. That might be the one way to lessen those patches, but we'd have to sacrifice texture detail in that case. I thought the RE6 files might be faulty so I did another attempt, this time using an Xnalara model. Just a quick import. The same bugs appeared tho, so I'm kinda stumped atm. {Sniper w/ bugs!} mrbibbles no links for now, have to fix stuff first
