Well, obviously we're all here for one reason, and one reason only: we all enjoy Resident Evil (and we're doubly devoted, since we enjoy Resident Evil for the PC).
So, how did each of us discover these games?
May as well go first, I guess.
I found Resident Evil from an old On Demand show back in the mid 2000s called 24/7 Gamer. They used to do a segment titled "Best Game Ever" and, naturally, one of the tiles covered was the original Resident Evil. I was mildly amused by the campy dialogue, but didn't actually play the games until a family friend let me try Resident Evil 4 on his PS2. I enjoyed the game immensely (this is as good an explanation as any for why Leon is my favorite male character in the series), so I went out and found a ROM for Resident Evil 2 (since Project 64 was the only emulator I used at that point); shortly thereafter I acquired a copy of Resident Evil 3 for the PC, and moved on from there. At the time I was writing a lot of fan fiction and Resident Evil naturally enough became my main series; I decided to go back and start things at the very beginning with Resident Evil Zero (the less said about that game and my fan fiction, the better). This was right around the time Resident Evil 5 came out (I became a "fan" of the series just after Re4 was released, and first heard about it as a result of hype for that game).
Resident Evil is in no small part why I'm a devoted PC gamer (alongside Halo: Combat Evolved), so I've always had a soft spot for the series, and I tend to jump on any new RE titles released for the PC when they come out; it's also how I got into the zombie subculture and one of the main reasons I developed my fascination with firearms and air soft.
To date, my collection is:
Resident Evil (1996)-Original disc copy for the PC; this is probably worth something Resident Evil 2: Platinum-Another original disc copy; this cost me around $40 from Amazon used and is what I did with most of my graduation money. Resident Evil 3-Got this as a digital distribution from GameStop before Steam was really a thing; they've since parted ways with their DRM company and screwed me out of a game, and I've never replaced it. Resident Evil 4 (2005)-The original, awful Ubisoft port is the first game I ever modded (special shoutout to The Chief; his Rebecca Chambers mod is the main reason I bought the game). Resident Evil-Deadly Silence (2006)-Probably the second most disappointing RE game I own, since I was under the impression this was a report of the 2002 REmake and not the original game; still, the controls are great and it's less likely to mess up my DS than the original game is with my computer. Resident Evil 5 (2008)-One of the first GFWL games I bought; never played it online; to this day I loathe this title with a passion. Operation Raccoon City-Two copies of this one: one when it first released (in the hopes PC games would start getting more spin-off games; apparently this came to pass since we got Revelations) and another from Steam because I want to be able to get the DLC and Capcom doesn't release it elsewhere. Resident Evil-Revelations-First Steamworked RE game I bought; despite this it's still one of my favorites; I think this is also how I met Irishlumberjack and ultimately started playing games with other people (and, incidentally, joined this forum). Resident Evil 6-Probably my favorite game in the series; for once, Capcom managed to do everything right. Resident Evil 4 (2014)-Cannot express how disappointed I was in this game. The poor optimization alone was a killer. Resident Evil (2015)-See above. Seriously, how hard is it to remaster a game that's almost fifteen years old so it'll run on mid to low range machines? Revelations 2-Really want to get into this one...just as soon as my rig is up to the challenge.
I've also got both CG films, the truly horrific SD Perry novels (they make the fanfiction I wrote in high school look good), and somewhere there's a Claire Redfield action figure (because I saw it and said "This is mine now"). I've also got a really cool imported CD from Japan with excerpts from the soundtracks for the first three games performed live by a full orchestra. It's pretty nifty.
Well, that's me, anyway. What about the rest of you?

I first heard of Resident Evil when I was a young kid, can't remember how old exactly. My brothers use to play the original resident evil on PS1 all the time, and they loved it to bits. I remember at one point my oldest brother even got my dad into the game, and we would all watch him play it and do speed runs on it. Eventually once I got hold enough I got into the game myself, and than we got our hands on Resident Evil 2, lets just say it's amazing that game disc didn't simply give out given the amount of times it got played. After that though, I got into PC gaming,(Wow, Diablo 2) and kinda forgot about console gaming all together, than in 2007, I got RE4 for PC, the UK Version from Amazon. Thankfully, I got the UK version because it didn't come patched, and my PC at the time was lucky to even run V1.0 2007 Re4, and I was BLOWN away by the game, I played it over and over and over again, was obsessed with it, regardless of the fact that I had to play it 800x600 windowed, on keyboard (didn't own a gamepad at the time) and had major FPS stutters but I just dealt with it, I was just glad I was able to play it at all. After playing through it a few times I was interested in seeing if people made any changes to the game, surely enough after a generic Google search I came onto a Gamespot forums article about our old forums home, and it all took off from there. Over a few years I became the head admin of the community, crazy how longs it's been. I am sad that I no longer have the time or energy to put into modding like I use to, but I guess nothing lasts forever. Regardless I will always be a die hard RE fan, though I have less ambition to play them on Pc with every passing day due to seriously lack of on line coop population and other various PC port issues, it's just easier to boot them on a console and just play them the way they were intended without all the head aches and issues that come with PC gaming these days

I must have heard of Resident Evil pretty early on in my life, but outside of knowing the genre I couldn't have told you anything about it. In 2011, I was traveling through the UK and visiting some friends, and they were cooping Resident Evil 5 together. I sat there and watched them playing the last parts of the game (starting around Mkono) and had no idea what was going on. What was up with the weird tentacle monsters and the half-naked protagonist (Sheva tribal) and the crazy, idiotic guy who shoved his arm into some virus in the random volcano they were suddenly in? They finished the game and I promptly forgot about it. Then last year, I saw two YouTubers cooping Resident Evil 6. They kind of hated it and were constantly making fun of it, but I thought it looked like a lot of fun. I still had no idea what was going on, but I suddenly remembered watching my friends play 5 and I decided I, too, wanted to coop a game with someone. It seemed like people had a really good time playing these games together. So, I bought 5 and 6 on Steam a few days before they went on sale (sigh) and played through 5 online with the same friend I'd visited those years back. While we went through it, he tried to explain some things and helped me to understand what a poorly written game 5 was, and I later went on to form the same conclusion after learning about it myself. However, we still had a lot of fun, and by the time we finished I was eager to start 6. I played them both for awhile over and over (I still do, actually), and came to be a bit attached to the character Wesker was supposed to be (my friend's favorite character is also him, so I heard stories about how cool he was in the older games). This, coupled with a strong curiosity as to what led to everything I was seeing in the newer games and a desire to better understand the other characters too, led me to do a ton of reading about the series. I read synopses of all the games, read long fan conversations on message boards, read about the characters and their backgrounds, and eventually decided I really liked Wesker and watched all of his cutscenes on YouTube (...in one sitting). Of course, this wasn't enough, though by then I could speak intelligently about the series. I quickly snapped up the other RE games on Steam (RE4, ORC, REV1 - 2 wasn't out at the time) and worked my way through them. I preordered REHD and loved it. I couldn't wait any longer for the others to be on Steam, so I played 2, 3, Umbrella Chronicles, and am now almost done with Code Veronica X. I watched all the movies (as painful as the live action ones are). I read most of the books (which was, impressively, somehow even more painful). It's true I don't have the nostalgia that a lot of people here do who were lucky enough to have the games as kids, but I love the series, its lore, and most of its characters, so better late than never.

Well, the first time i saw Resident Evil was the 3rd one in the gaming series. Dad bought me a PS1 as i remember and i had no discs to play with so i went to a local store. Was late '99 like December or so. I was browsing through the game when i saw this guy, with tentacles, ugly as hell but scary and dark. Ah, the love at the 1st sight. I grabbed the disc and when i was about to purchase it the shopkeeper told me : What the? You? This? No way kid. You don't know how to play this. And i said : We'll see about that.
Ohkay so i went home with the disc and boom i'll never forget the intro of RE3. The soundtrack too. And then i started playing countless hours, day after day i was stuck in different places until it took me like 1 month to complete it. It was so thrilling and intense as a kid lol those emotions i will never forget. Squeezing the controller so tight. One of the most epic moments was when Nemesis approached you for the 1st time and the screen goes white. 2 Choices to make, wich obviously RUN!
But then after RE3, i started to play less and less with my PS1... At that time i had forgotten about Nemesis and zombies and stuff untill the first Resident Evil movie came up. Then i remembered. Then the 2nd movie came out. Then i got a new PS2 for birthday and 1st game i bought was RE4. I saw this guy with a handgun and he's hanging yellow hair. Hm i though myself " I guess the saga continues". So i grabbed that and boom the same thing happened again. Countless hours, watching my ass from that Chainsaw guy. Repeated the village quite a few times since i had forgotten to buy a mem card. Ahhhh the good old 8MB mem card held so many memories. And then.... i got my 1st pc, when i learned about RE1, Re2 etc.... Then started playing every game RE Game since then.

I got onto it when i was in elementary school when a friend of my brother brought over an RE game for the gamecube. (don't remember which one...) but i thought it was really cool after that my brother bought a copy of Resident Evil Remake for the gamecube and that got me hooked. after that i played the port of RE1 for the NDS, i played a bunch of RE4, which brought me to the modding forums (the old forums we had before this one) because, i think it was RopeDink, made a mod where you could play as the Garador in RE4. that back in the day had me amazed and also got me hooked on mods now i've played a bunch of entries in the franchise. after years i finally actually sat down and learned how to mod with some help obviously... and now i've played: Re1 PS1, DS, and Remake (and remake HD) Re2 for beat this game recently for the first time on Vita Re4 on basically every platform under the sun xD (GC, Wii, old PC, New PC, IOS(horrible game, port of the zeebo console....) and on a friends PS3) Re0 Wii bought it on sale... finished it only once xD RE5 PC and PC GOLD RE6 PC and brief parts on PS3 ORC PC Merc 3d (i own this game twice xD physical and digital. finished it on both xD) Revelations beat it on pc, 3ds, and WiiU Mercenaries VS (i played this game more than i am willing to admit....) on IOS Revelations 2 PC and soon i will get my hands on the Vita Version. if i have enough money i am hoping to get RE3 on vita and then see if i can finish that game for the first time ever aswel.. so yeah my fandom with this franchise all started because i went into my brothers room while he and a friend were playing on gamecube. if not who knows if i would've found the series and if i would've gotten into modding and after that into game development. so this franchise will always stay close to my heart... enough rambling and mushy shit.... time to go play games and do modding or something

They used to do some really insanely crazy, hilarious things with the old Re4 port. I had a mod for a brief time that replaced Ashley with giant twelve-year-old Sherry Birkin. Good times.

I was introduced to RE1 on Playstation by a mate before even Resident Evil Directors cut was made when I was 21 (1996)
I would sit at his place and read the playguide to him.
Later I bought RE2 for myself and fell in love with the series myself so went back and finally played RE1 myself.
Over the years I have watched the games keep coming and have always enjoyed the ones I played (with exceptions to RE: Orc, RER, RER2 and RE6 which I don't enjoy so much)
I came here originally not to long after RE4 came out on PC looking for a Playstation button mod for my controller and after finding one decided to try my own hand at PS Button modding for RE games after getting myself a 14 day ban for releasing someone elses work as my own. (Was not intentional but I deserved the ban)
A couple of years ago I asked and received "moderator rights" on the site and find myself LOVING the site even if I do only download mods that improve the look of the games without destroying the look Capcom was looking for.
I pretty much only download mods like Albert/Cris's RE4 HD texture pack or fan made bug fixes for RE games and most of the mods I created are PS Button mods.

For me, I grew up watching my Mother play RE1 at a very young age (maybe 2/3/4) then I asked to play myself, she wasn't to sure but I played PS1 anyway. I enjoyed it alot! then we moved on to RE2, I would ask my mother to do the bosses and stuff as I wasn't good enough back then. *cough* speed run pic in post a re pic thread *cough* Ever since then I fell in love with the RE Series, I played 3 which was rented at the time, then got a PS2 with code veronica when it came out. Never finished it till HD version came out tho. When RE4 was announced I got it on gamecube which started... my love for Mr Leon Kennedy \*W*/ RE4 was an amazing experience for me, I loved the third person style play. I also got a pre owned RE0 and Remake which was amazinggggg! Moving on to RE5 and 6 I played on Xbox and then when I got a PC for gaming... I discovered mods which led me here, I was astounded by what people had been doing, and downloaded dozens of things straight away. I tried model modding at one point with the help of EvilLord but I wasn't... that competent with 3DS max, so instead made simple mods of my own, such as model swaps, retextures and slight edits of outfits that displease me. And thats my RE story! Snipz out! :3

I first go into Resident Evil thanks to RE2 on the N64 back when I was 10, my friends used to bet that no one could play and beat the game alone in the house and I was happy to take them up on that bet, I would sit alone in my cousins house playing it while he was out playing and would get scared when a zombie would grab me lol.
Thanks to my love of it I became interested in other entries, a friend of mine purchased Code Veronica for the Dreamcast and although he did not like It I absolutely LOVED it, he eventually gave it to me and I borrowed my brother's dreamcast and played it for so long. I eventually went back to play RE1 on my old playstation since by that time it had become dirt cheap, although I did not like it as much as the previous 2 games I had played I still got some enjoyment out of it. Resident Evil 3 came into my collection not to long afterwards and I loved what they did with Nemesis and how they had made him more dangerous and relentless.
I took a break from Resident Evil for a few years until RE4 was released and although it was clearly different than the games I loved in the series before it still as a lot of fun, one thing I loved was the mercenaries mode and how powerful Wesker and Krauser was in it, something about playing with super powered Resident Evil characters always struck me as pretty darn interesting.
Thanks to that I eventually downloaded RE4 for the pc since I had seen youtube videos of people modding the game to have Wesker in storymode, one thing I wanted really bad was to get Wesker in the story mode with all his power intact such as being able to thrust punch enemies into oblivion, because of that I joined up with the then Resident Evil 4 and 4 modding forum and started making all kinds of requests to get modders to do it for me, I eventually got a verbal warning from zaia and Satyr thanks to my efforts lol, no one bother to take me series since I was a noob so I finally got tired and decided to learn to mod myself, the moderator at the time LeonMeKennedy was the only one who took the time to teach me, others answered my pms and eventually just got frustrated and stopped answering my pms, it was thanks to him that I eventually gained a knack for modding and decided to stay with the forum from then on.

Those are some good memories you have there!
