Q. Will I be able to use my RE5 retail key to unlock the game on Steam? A. My bet is no because everyone would only need a cheap GFWL game key to unlock RE5 on Steam (RE5 did not use SSA keys)
Q. Will my Steam GFWL version update to the Steam version? A. I would almost guarantee it.
Q. Will we see Gold Edition content? A. My bet is that we will. (would be a good way for Capcom to make some money from the games transition to steam)
Q. Will my save from the GFWL version work on the steam version? A. I am 99% sure the game will look for your GFWL save file and transfer it over to steam (like Capcom did with SSF4AE) once the game is released.
^These are my best guesses, will see what I am right about after RE5 switches to steam.

my gess is : you will have to pay $$ for having it on steam even if you already paid for it's GFWL version. capcom is still capcom and they want your money ^^.

Aside from this the only other game left that I wish was steamworks enabled is Lost Planet Colonies. Too bad it won't get the treatment it deserves...

Q: What about Split-screen? RE6 supported splitscreen on PC with full keyboard/mouse & controller support. What will happen with RE5.

As long as they've still got access to all keys created for RE5, I assume we will be able to use those to redeem the game on steam. That you could use any GFWL key to activate RE5 was really weird, but that shouldn't be a factor here.
