I realize I posted in the wrong section originally.
The original '96 PC release of RE1 has the .wav files of every single line of dialogue, making it easy to rip. I'd love to be able to use these files on REmake HD and add in the original voiceovers. It looks like the sound files in this game use a proprietary file type, however. I wonder how possible it would be to add in the original dialogue from the '96 RE1...
Does anyone have more knowledge about how to edit sound files in REmake HD?

Most, if not all, speech are OGG files. You can find them in nativePC/sound/event. You'll see a bunch of SNGW files, these are just OGG files with a different extension.

If one could use the original games' voice with this game, there would be a bigger problem... there are many instances that the dialogue has been changed and where new dialogue was added, that did not exist prior. So it would have to be a mix of the old and the new voice which would be jarring not to mention the original voice would not be able to be properly synced with the cinematics (ingame or otherwise).
Perhaps simply replacing the character's ingame sounds (like pain, injury, steps) with the original is more likely.
