Hey RE modding forum, I'm new here ! So here's the thing: I'm trying to extract the background images for the individual rooms (including the depth maps) for some personal projects in Blender. I've tried extracting textures with REtool, but the application crashes every time I run the bat file to convert TEX to DDS. Am I going about this the completely wrong way? It would be greatly appreciated if someone could point me in the right direction on how to do this! (What program to use, which arc files to unpack to access the BG images, etc.)

REtool? Is that just ARCtool? residentevilmodding.boards.net/thread/481/arc-unpacker-repacker-v0-428You just have to drag and drop the .tex files onto the .bat to convert them to .dds. (Note: the ARCtool .exe should be in the same folder as the .bat.) As for where those files are located, I don't have the game accessible at the moment, but just dig around a bit, they're not too hard to find.

There is a bat pack there. One for Every resident evil game. Choose the right one.

I already extracted the arc files with ARCtool and for some reason, I assumed extracting individual textures/models/etc. required a different application. I have found a list of which room is which on here so I already have an idea where to start. Thanks again!
