Ok, so I am attempting to use Raz0r's trainer for purposes of its melee qualities as well as many other goodies, bells, & whistles. It seems like it would be a magnificent trainer, but I can't even get the blasted window to open. I went on Nexus Mods for this one. Not sure if it's available anywhere else or whatever. In addition to downloading the 4gb patch and Microsoft Visual C++, I followed the instructions stickied here by AlkalineWater20: www.nexusmods.com/residentevil4/mods/32?tab=posts Before I found this post however, I must mention that I tried to use the trainer by right-clicking the application, selecting open with, and selecting the bio4.exe application. My dumb ass also checked the little "Always open with" box. I've deleted the file and re-downloaded it twice now but it still seems tethered to the application. Every time I try to use the trainer I simply receive a window that says "Fatal Error Steam must be running to play this game." Did I screw myself by doing this or is this normal?

what version of the game are you running? is it a legit version of the game or crack?
also, you dont open the trainer with the game exe. It runs on its own.

I did not know it runs on its own. I am indeed using a legitimate steam purchased version, the UHD one, don't worry. I followed the instructions in the post to downgrade the version of the game using the steam console doohikie & replacing the file as well. Not sure if I need to try everything again or...?

for this to work you need:
1 - legit STEAM version of 1.0.6 bio4.exe 2 - the trainer
that's it.

Hmm, so I checked out the properties of my bio4.exe application and I think I might have downgraded myself a bit too much when following his instructions. I think...
It says product version: 1.0.18384.1

Ok so I found a different tutorial on how to use it on youtube:
I've downloaded the EXE 1.0.6 patch, but it contains a bio4.rar file instead of the exe one shown in the video. I'm a bit worried as to whether or not the file is still good to use or will fuck up my version if I replace the exe one. Not sure if I should worry about such a thing or not but I really don't know what I'm doing here and am unsure of which types of files are ok for which circumstances.

Well friends, I finally figured out why it wasn't running. In addition to not putting the actual trainer file itself in the Bin32, I realized that I probably needed to convert the bio4 file you sent and the trainer as well once a took another look at the file type. Running it through that was pretty easy, and after taking the trainer off of my antivirus's quarantine it finally works. The melee is pretty janky, like I need to spam the F1 key and sometimes hold the fn key and maybe the other attacks will work, but it's still a hell of a lot better than not working. Thank you for your help Mr. Curious.
