I'm making a simple texture mod based on Claire Classic tank it replaces the army DLC. Anyway while I was messing around trying to get the slash on her face to look wet & bloody I found that the Alpha channel on the Normal Map controls a wet like shine effect similar to a spec map but more glossy (maybe a gloss map?), this could be used to make a model look wet all the time, if you wanted to... I dunno... Oil up sexy Leon/Mr X or something. You have to be careful with it if you are going for a more variable effect like me as it can easily send the whole model part looking super shiny & showing the seams up. Also it is inverted so Bright = Dry look / Dark = wet look. Still looking for a fix for the Wetmask / bloodmask if anyone can help with that? I tried making my own & linking them in the mdf file but no luck, I did notice there are other ref. to them in the mdf file & they don't seem mesh related because my face (like the DLC) only uses an mdf file & it still has no wet map despite all but the matt / normal being the same as the default classic tank mdf I am using.

This is a really neat idea for a mod. I wish you luck and will love to play the finished copy

could you also make a version that changes the base game skins for the people who don't own the dlc skins please?

That is my intent but I think the mod will add as the DLC even if you don't have it (yet to test this)...

So I figured out the wet maps & how to remove or redirect the mesh directory or names, I now have the wet masks & rain wet masks & damage maps working 100%.
To fix the wet maps or redirect the files used to create them go to "natives\x64\objectroot\prefab\character\survivor\parts\pl1000" (or whatever Pl1000 dir is for your mod Like pl0000 for Leon), Replace if needed the "pfb.16" files & open them in a hex editor then change the names/addresses to your wet mask files.
To change the address of or to remove meshes go to "natives\x64\objectroot\scene\ui\figure\extra" & find the "figurescene_pl1000_11.scn.19" file (or whatever Pl1000 dir is for your mod Like pl0000 for Leon), open it in the hex editor & change the address for the mesh (I was using the default mesh so I just changed it to the base game mesh so I could remove them saving on file size & unnecessary files).
This mod is 99% done now just need to test it a little more & get some more screenshots.

Some more screens: Tried full blood splats like the zombies but it did not look so great (also the mesh joins are a bit of a nightmare) so I went for the dried flaking off blood look with plenty of dirt & grime. It fades away on the mesh joins but that is also mostly the areas that would get rubbed allot so it kinda works ok. If you're wondering this was inspired by Silent Hill 3's Heather Zombie skin, I'm not *that* much of a necro lol.

So I have made progress with this. I have been unwell so it's going slow. The mod now works as DLC I have tested it & uninstalled the DLC & it is still working. I had to rewrite many of the DLC files & add some more files but the sizes are small. This will not give you or unlock the DLC for you as far as I know, if you want the military DLC then you will still have to pay for it. Still testing it but it seems to hold up & not cause any errors. You can expect it probably this week, depending on interest level & response I might redo it at a higher resolution or put more work into it or expand it. I will not be making a Vanilla replacement because it alters the head & hair & will do this for every costume in the game so it won't look very good if you want to change outfit.

As I said it replaces the face & hair & all the outfits use the same face & hair so it would not look good using the default classic no jacket, if you wanted to use any other outfit she would have a zombie head with a seam line in the model.

Also the model exporter plug in just crashes for me & the way they put the models together in parts like face means all the anims are separate as well.
