Rightyo Peeps, I'm here to clear up a few questions about RE2 mods that I've been seeing everywhere. So sit back, relax and learn. Can we mod base game files and not DLC stuff?
No we cant. Hopefully soon we will be able too. The reason we cant is because we can only mod files by taking away the games .PAK File and make it load from raw extracted files. And we dont have a full file list for names that the QuickBMS script uses. This may take a while to get (RE7's Was only completed a few weeks ago...) Can we fix facial animations from model swaps? This also links back to the first question. The animation files for this stuff is within the games base .PAK File Which we can not edit yet. Can we Model import yet?
Not just yet. But progress has been made by Zealot Tormunds Here We are hoping he can fully fix up his tool and release it to us all soon! (Huge thanks my dude!) Can we edit textures yet?
Kind of. A few people have figured it out. One of these people is Crazy Potato who has a tutorial Here Can we change Mr x's theme to "X gone give it to ya" yet? Or just audio files in general?
Actually, As of the 5th of February 2018. This MR X music mod has been made! Get it here! steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1645817030Can we fix Softlocks that we get when using FluffyQuack Memory editing method?
As explained by Fluffyquack himself, Some of these softlocks just can't be fixed. The only solution is to switch back to the normal character before a section where the game will lock, then switch back after.

Thanks for clearing this up. I'm curious why RE7 took so long and hoping it's not the case for this game

Thanks for clearing this up. I'm curious why RE7 took so long and hoping it's not the case for this game The whole game is in a big 20+GB .pak file. To properly extract (which we need to do to mod the files within) it requires a list that maps out all the files inside this thing. This list is built by a .dll plugin that maps files out that are loaded by the game while playing. So basically we somehow need to make the game load EVERY SINGLE FILE before this list can be completed. Without all these files properly extracted the game won't even correctly start. Because you can't load the game from the extracted files which are needed to mod and from the .pak at the same time. Edit: ΛLISTΞR maybe clean this explanation up and add it as a "why can't we mod the base game (yet)?"

Well it's a bummer how long it's gonna take to be able to mod this game. Bought it for PC solely for the modding community. I'm a patient boy so I can wait but I do hope we can all mod it sooner.
I am having a lot of trouble even just retexturing haha
And RE7 was just moddable recently? I thought it took this long because no one was even interested in modding that game?
Thanks for providing the good info, though!!! Can always count on you pros!

Hi Guys.
I have a problem and hope that someone can help me here in the forum.
My problem is that the game does not start properly after unpacking the PAK archive.
Nothing was changed on the PAK archive, it was only unpacked using QuickBMS. Nothing more.
After unpacking you have a NATIVES folder and a bunch of other files.
I just moved everything to the main directory. Then I moved the original PAK archive to another folder, as a backup. There was nothing done on the DLC folders, not unzipped, not moved, nothing at all.
When I start the game it tells me that my save files are not compatible, then it says that the DLC content needs to be checked. Exactly beyond this point, the game does not continue.
Not even 2 hours.
What am I doing wrong?
Sorry for my English
May the power be with the Google Translator.

So can model importing be done now, or rather, does anyone else know how Aysar (if they are the original creator) did it with his nude Claire mod? I'm just excited to see new weapons, characters, and whatever else can be done.

Is it possible to loop themes like the one from the R.P.D. Main Hall or the save room? Basically make the new OST work like the classic OST, where every iconic theme is looped.
