First of all, this is not a request.
You might have already noticed the few things that Capcom did to actually improved the game in terms of graphics. They basically up-scaled the texture size and added some anti-aliasing, however the pre-rendered backgrounds are now noticable pixelated and low-res in comparison to character and enemy models and I've never really found that very pleasing. I do know part of this problem comes from the fact that the entire background is a huge static texture and up-scaling can only do so much to improve quality. I also think this is the only thing that should be fixed to make the game look updated and crisp.
So, let's get to the point:
-What can be done? Well, you might have already heard of the fan-made FFVII HD remaster that's being developed, which basically up-scales the pre-rendered backgrounds with the help of a software that uses machine learning in order to make a high quality up-scales and actually making an improvement and doesn't accentuate the pixels as much. The software is called A.I. Gigapixel and background textures could be processed through the software to make very high-quality files, so we could do the same with RE1 backgrounds (and RE0 too), in theory we could edit the background textures and do a simple replacement mod to get them to match (or even surpass) model texture quality.
-And what is the problem? Well, I could do this myself, I can learn how to mod the game and do simple re-texturing, I've done this for games like L4D2 and other Source games, as well as model swapping. But we have 2 problems, the first one is that my GPU is unsupported for this program (I have a Radeon HD 5700, the 5000 series is unsupported), therefore I'm not able to use it. Why can't I buy a better GPU? Simply because I don't have the money to do so, I live in Venezuela and minimum wage (which is what my father earns) is around $6... this is absolutely impossible for me, second problem is that the software costs $100... BUT
-What is the solution and what help is needed? A.I. Gigapixel has a 30 day free-trial, this period of time could be used to convert every background of the game into a high-quality one, again, I would love to do this myself but I'm simply unable to; so someone else is needed to do this part and thanks to the free trial spending money is not required.
-What are the things I can do? I can give a complete compilation of every background used in the game, downloaded via the wiki or extracted from the game files, if someone sends me the HQ backgrounds after being processed with Gigapixel or makes the downloadable, I could do the rest.
I'll leave a link to the forum where the FF remake is being discussed if you want to see for yourself what is actually being made and what a difference it makes and have a better idea of what I'm talking about:

Thanks for reading, sorry for the wall of text (I hate posting those lol) and I hope you understand my problem, please tell me what you think about this hypothetical mod. Anyone who's interested in helping is absolutely welcome.
