I want to find items Resident Evil 2 in a similar fashion as the original game. By removing the HUD you no longer have Indicators that ruin immersion and exploration and are free to find items by using your noggin' and looking around. However by turning the HUD off, the crosshair is also removed. Capcom didn't add a separate toggle for whatever reason.
Is there any way I can edit the game files to brute force the crosshair on or alternatively leave the HUD On but manually delete/hide the HUD textures so that only the crosshair textures are visible?
I have some experience doing basic modding in other games but have no clue where to even get started in RE 2. I can probably do it myself if someone points me in the right direction, I know there is a fairly high demand for this and wouldn't mind making a video or file to help others in the event I do figure this out.

If anyone would like to have a way of seeing where your shooting and needs some kind of workaround in the meantime, you can put a piece of tape on your monitor and use that as a guide. Of course it slightly tints your screen and pulls you out of the experience a little bit, but currently the only way of aiming without the HUD.

I would agree with this, there should have been a option to only have the crosshairs without the other ui.

I turned the crosshair off anyway because I didn't want the items. You get used to it and there is a laser attachment since I see laser color in the menu.

From what I read there is only 1 weapon for Claire that makes use of it. Though now that I think about it, it would be cool if I could mod a laser sight into the item box and maybe change some of the properties to make it usable on all guns? I will do some research, if I find anything I will add it to this thread.

Capcom could so easily add this as a third option for the hud, I hope they read steam threads..

You can try this program : linkBasically, it overlays a crosshair on your screen. So it's compatible with all the games. There's also a toggle key, so if you set a program like xpadder like this : The crosshair will shows when you hold the left trigger, and hide when you release it. Here's the Re2 crosshair, you can save the png and use it : Set the crosshair scale to 1, save the configuration, and you're good to go. Cheers
