So, I put a theory to test for forcing the game to load custom files... And it works!
This is a really big breakthrough in modding RE2! If anyone ever creates an Import tool. Or something that converts the dds back to .tex, this is the way to make the game load those files, without generating a whole new .pak file.
Heres how to do it.
Use this tool cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/534889261086801921/537409452744376331/re2_pak_unpack.bms Along with this New filelist www.deviantart.com/users/outgoing?https://zenhax.com/download/file.php?id=6108&sid=74cea4edf07ecd219ee7cad3e6dbf96a To extract the .pak file.
Once thats done, Use this tool www.mediafire.com/file/t0vbm9f1u7bgub3/SGM_RE2.rar/file And select the folder where everything is extracted. Click No when it asks you to Extract the .pak files and yes to everything else.
This will extrack all of the .pak file into one big folder that should be organised like this,
Once thats done, Remove the Original .pak file from the games archives. This will force the game into loading from the extracted files instead.
Now just start editing files and swapping stuff over!
Can make some pretty funny stuff work.
Also, This will make the game Load the Japanese menu's instead. But its not the biggest deal.
