So far, the things that can be done are the editing of textures and model swaps (importing models and the other advanced stuff is still be researched)... so no real tools yet and you can view how to do the limited editing in the modding section found in re2 remake's modding tutorials section.
One more thing...
They wanted Claire to look more like Bayonetta? such a odd choice... so happy they where overruled, it also seems that both Leon and Claire would have had much different appearances than they have in this final build, but for the backlash they received for RE7 Chris's random 3d scan look...

just having her based off of her previous versions, I don't mind the design they choose for this game, just wanted her updated original hair/outfit to be closer to the original design.
Imagine, if they like previous games, had included various costumes of the main cast from their previously released titles. Options to swap out updated visually 1 to 1 likeness of all the various costumes from RE2 (including the alternates), The Darkside Chronicles, RE CVX, RE 4, RE Degeneration, RE Damnation, RE6... so much they could work with...
or even a updated Mercenaries...
and also curious, to hear/see more about the new modes they are adding on Feb 15th...
